OK first off what 4 day trial are we talking about?
we have two programs eroticcash and freefreeprogram.
eroticash sites all have a 3day paid trial
freefreeprogram sites have a 1 month trial for a $1

I need to look into this which site of ours did you join?

I'm not saying neither one of us is right or wrong but I do have a 800# u could have called and we could of resolved whatever situation has accured.

This is the cross sell site for one of your Porn4ADollar Sites. After our lengthy discussion the other day you better believe this really made me angry. As I have said in my post the other day and today..I will not screw my customers. You gave me your word that the 24 hour renewal clause was a clerical error. So, when I checked tonight and found that I had been charged for a recurring membership...this really go me. Now, it seemed, not only had I been lied to, but I had now lied to my customers ..something that I will not do.

The charge has been reversed. I already contacted billing support.

Ok that was a cross sale and it was not one of our sites. when you join and agree to a cross sale you get a notice by email for it.
on that email it should tell you what site and what the trial period is?
Its not my site so I don't know what there terms and conditions say but I'm sure they have explained it.

I never said we did not have cross sales
You had to enter your email again and some code to even get this cross sale that clearly stated it was another site you are getting a free trial on.

By all means please everyone look at our sites and tell me if We are doing anything miss leading?

I'm really not sure what to say about this.

Roger...in our original posts the other day I gave you the exact names of the 2 programs....chubby and fattyfatty, so there should not have been any confusion as to what I was asking you. In fact, I quoted those exact terms that you just quoted in which you gave your "clerical error" reply.

And yes, I do know what a cross-sell is..but sorry that reasoning doesn't fly. That's like an anti-abortion clinic taking commission on abortion pills...you say that you do not agree with the hidden terms method of doing business...but then it is alright to profit from another company which supports this type of operation.

When I use a new sponsor, I test ALL of the sites...upsells and all...this is what my customer will be confronted with.

Anyhow...I wish the adult industry was run more ethically...but..if wishes were horses...

And to the other fella...yes, I do care about my surfers...because they could be my friends, my neighbors...at the very least they are people who deserve to be treated with fairness.

I think Roger is well within the bounds of what's reasonable here 49th, and he's even been polite about it. You need to take your whining to someone who cares. Roger does not have control over sites that do not belong to him and you certainly cannot expect him to change the policies of other sponsors simply because you don't feel good about what some faceless surfer is agreeing to.

On a personal note here, I think you are being incredibly ridiculous about this whole thing. The policy in question is not unusual, nor a "scamming" practice as you have labeled it. I don't know how long you have been in business, (any business, not just adult), but ya know... life isn't always fair. People buy and sign for shit every day of the week without reading the exact terms and conditions of the deal. You're not going to save the world. No one is going to change a perfectly legit policy simply because you are uncomfortable with it.

As has been suggested by others, if you don't like the policy, create your own program and implement your own policies that YOU feel are fair to the surfer. That is the only way you can ever be 100% sure of what you're giving them, because no one is going to change their business model based on your discomfort with the way it is.

I certainly wouldn't.

I am sorry if you feel we are doing something unethical but it does state the facts on the terms and conditions

which I think in this day & age people are accustomed to doing.
If you are about to put your cedit card online I'm sure you read the T&C
the reason we need to do certain things is because Surfers don't want to take any responsibility for there own actions and they take advantage of our generous free trials and cancel which we pay you money up front for.

I will not change the world...and yes I am aware that this industry is full of "hidden" terms and conditions. The whole thread started because I asked Roger if this was the case with his program...he said no...By asking him, I did my part to live up to my ideals...that's all I can do...

And I do differ when you say that the customer is scamming us by taking our free offers and cancelling...we offer material for free...the customer is within his rights to take this offer..we are not in our rights to feel we can penalize him/her for simply responding to our advertising...

I build a program that pays you on reacurring or after they become active with a full membership ?

No cross sells and no bullshit you want a totally honest up front site with no hidden terms straight up.

If you send all your traffic to it I will build it for you
but don't get upset when it doesn't make as much as you expect. you can't have everything

Like I always said on the boards I build these programs for the webmasters to make them the most $$$ i can.

If your looking for something else I will have a site built just for you and we can split the sales. It won't cost you a dime to build.

And how sincere am I about my ideals...since last week, I have had many a sleepless night removing links to many programs that I had discovered didn't live up to my idealist nature. So far, the links I have cut have an estimated value to me of about $9,000 a month... a hard pill to swallow.. but I need to live with myself... what works for others doesn't work for me...

I'd like to point out that (at least with Ibill, the only processor I've dealt with to date) it may be necessary for the customer to cancel a _converted_ recurring charge more than 24 hours before rebilling for them not to be rebilled another month. This is because the database is first polled for charges that are due, along with retry attempts. This information (and keep in mind that it represents 1/30th of the processor's total active accounts at the moment!) is then formed into muliple, comma-delimited batch files that are then submitted one at a time to the gateway processor, with each batch file returning a corresponding yea-or-nay response for each entry within it, that then needs to be processed and, finally, entered back into the database.

As one might suppose, all of this takes a wee bit of time and the process, for any given account, may well start a full 24 hours before being completed- especially if there's any net congestion or the gateway is down for awhile, which happens more often than you might think. If the customer cancels during that time, the charge will go through. And it'll stand unless the member contacts customer support to have it removed or charges back on it.

After reading all of this as well as the original thread, I can't help but feel that an e-mail last week to Roger would've addressed your concerns more productively. He not only seems willing to discuss issues, but shows more patience than I'd be capable of. And I doubt his behavior would be any different off-board.

I didn't know it was him until he posted it but He did email me and asked me to remove the credit that he got on our program when he joined off his link. so I respect that, not to many webmasters would do that if any.

attention many times a customer does Not need to cancel 24 hours prior to the trial ending.

In any case epoch is working on it and it is in there legal dept.
