I'm watching a documentary on some Shaolin Monks and they're doing some incredible shit. Breaking shit with their hands and heads and having things broken on their hands and heads...

I don't think that some American white bread Kung Fu student could beat the Gracies but what about these REAL muthafuckas from China? They're no joke.

BJJ was tested out in the streets long ago. Ask Henry Matamoros who was taught by Pedro Sauer who was taught by Rickson Gracie(Undeafed NHB in history).

A striker has a knock out punch chance but it is very unlikey to knock out someone. Knocking out someone is really hard to do. BJJ is more practical in all aspects of fighting. BTW the monks know Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Wrestling, Lethal Blows, Weapon use and many other forms of combat.

My bet is BJJ over Shaolin Monks in the middle of the woods with no weapons.

I saw nothing in those videos to prove any point. Except in the first video, the dude in white had the reflexes of a slug and the dude in black in the second video telegraphed his move.

This has been tested many times. Kung Fu does not stand up at all in real combat. That is why you never see them in any of the inter disciplinary fighting events. Back in the 70's they sent some people to the event in Japan and being more of a striking competition back then they did very poorly. No reason to think they would do better now.

Because what I saw was grappling and wrestling help Sean Sherk win. In fact the only thing Franca could do is get a knee in at the beginning of each round and then lay on his back totally helpless for the rest of the round.

I think that no style is more dominant than any other, it all comes down to what strategy a fighter chooses to use given his opponents strengths. Personally if I was fighting against a standup guy, I'd take him to the ground so that he would be out of his element and not fighting the fight that he prepared for. In my opinion that is how most of the good all around fighters fight with a few exceptions.

bro, Sean Sherk is a very well trained fighter who you can be sure knows plenty about BJJ. There's a huge difference between an MMA guy with hundreds of hours of mat time spent learning how to stay on his feet and some little monk who thinks punching trees with his bare hands somehow prepares him for a real fight.

You have to know bjj to fight bjj, and if you haven't spent a lot of time learning how to keep standing up, you're gonna go down. BJJ is most definitely the most important fighting art even to MMA guys, and they all learn it so that they can effectively work against it and impose thier own style, but first they have to deal with the BJJ issue.

I don't think I've ever seen a real fight fought fairly. There are always more people involved, or weapons, or whatever. Martial arts pretty much all serve the same purpose... to get in shape.

Do you train, or did you just start watching after The Ultimate Fighter Tv Show?

Because if you did, train, you would have seen a wrestler aka grappler, who have the best top dominant positions in the game, out BJJ a BJJ Blackbelt. There are a few styles in MMA, BJJ is one of the universals, which 99% of MMA fighters train in.
