I just don't understand the appeal of these automobiles.

Most people don't have a problem with the humvee because it is offroad capable. There are plenty of non-Jeep vehicles that perform awesome off road. On trips I see Yotas, Zuks, and even some fords and chevys (rare). Problem with the H2 owners is they think they have an amazing 4x4 and brag about their glorified tahoe. 90% of them don't even know they're really driving a Chevy Tahoe with a big plastic frame imprinted with the hummer logo.

$42,000??? No way. Find me one for 42K. The base base model when I bought mine was low 52K's if I remember right. Mine priced out around 63.

Now to all you people saying it is too expensive this and that. Well in mycase I have a realative who works at GM, my total was 63 or so got that down to 51K then because of the weight of the vehicle (loop hole with taxes you dont even need to use it for work) I was able to write it off 100% got 1/3 of my money back from less I had to pay in taxes so when it was all said and done I paid about 35K for my H2 and it was a nicer model with lots of extras.

Hummer? No thanks, i dont need to compensate for anything :winkwink:

JP513 06-25-2007 08:48 PM

I dislike them also.

yep yep :thumbsup:thumbsup

potter 06-26-2007 11:49 PM

I'm wondering if the older models started at 42k? Because I swear their site used to have base model starting at 42k. My memory could just be fucked up though. Don't see what the big deal is anyway, 42k 52k 62k. It's all the same when compared to the base price of the H1. Because the H1 is actually a Hummer. Not a gayed up Tahoe.

You mean Azusa? That place can wheeled in 2WD in a stock pickup. Isn't it less than an acre of land?

some people call it "gayed up" others call it "luxury".

I didn't want a military vehicle. If I did I would have got a H1. I don't want a jeep, I wanted something really nice looking, and nice in the inside, with a smooth ride and lots of space. And something that could pull, and go off road.

snaker 06-27-2007 06:34 PM

I agree, the ultimate poser mobile and anyone who has one if obviosly overcompensating for something.

You kidding me? When i worked at a gas station, there was a lady who came in every weekend, to fill up, don't those beasts have 120 litre tanks? Filling those up with even a 10 cent/litre difference is price will be significant, since last year gas is up around 40 cents/litre here in Canada. Were hovering around 1.13/litre (1.13 (U.S. cents / litre) = 4.27751533 U.S. cents / US gallon) (blah were almost par anyways now) - it has GOT to be getting stupidly expensive for driving H2 or H3s now... I'm seeing less and less of them now where last year, I can definately remember them being around alot more.

ExtremeBank_Adam 06-27-2007 08:19 PM

Alysha usually drives our H2, and she loves it. We don't take it offroad much, but I have had to pull a few Jeeps out that were stuck in the mud.

Gas prices have been pretty much the same the last couple years. So that makes no sense.

Your post is kind of stupid. A vehicle's gas tank or how often they fuel up means absolutely shit. MPG is the only thing you can go by. So what if the Hummer has a big tank, doesn't mean shit. So what if the lady fueled up a lot, maybe she was putting 2,000 miles a week on vehicle for all you know.

MPG for my H2 is an average of 11 mpg, on a recent 200 mile trip I took with a lot of hwy miles I got an overal average of 13.8 mpg. If you going to bitch about a vehicle that burns that much gas there is more then just the H2 out there in that range. Big SUVS like Suburbans are real close to that, most if not all full size trucks are in the Teens (13 - 19mpg).

You know how stupidly expensive it is to drive a H2 vs a Dodge Ram 1500, about 6 miles per gallon stupid. Lets say you average about 300 miles a week which comes out to about 10 extra gallons a week. x $3 a gallon, wow a whole extra $30 a week in fuel. Wow that is shockingly stupid. I am sure no one that could spend 50K ++ to buy one could shell out $30 more a week for gas then the next guy. no way. :upsidedow

abyss_al 06-28-2007 12:33 PM

person rolling in an H2 knows about the mpg and doesn't give a fuck :pimp

only the haters and those who can't spend the $$ on it seem to be bitching :1orglaugh

Nice pics.

Hummer is totally useless in the city. Yes it's a PIMP car, but ...it's fuel sucker!

teg0 01-02-2008 12:04 PM

I think they are ugly, there are more attractive status symbols of there. Not to mention that it drives most people nuts to see them in an urban environment, sitting in traffic with only the driver in the car.

DaddyHalbucks 01-02-2008 12:13 PM

They're nice for legitimate off-road use or for extreme marketing.

But, they don't do any good for the environment or for our national security.

2MuchMark 01-02-2008 12:22 PM

Hummers are fucking ugly cars and way too big. I laugh my ass off watching my neighbour try to park his. He's also the kind of moron that remote starts it and leaves it running for 20 minutes because "he wants to treat his rummer right and not drive it when the engine is too cold". what a dumb ass

Heh, I love that
I've got a 04 TJ running 33's (no lift) now that can go more places than any H2 or H3. Maybe even more places than a humvee

ever try telling him, unless he has a diesel he's hurting the engine rather than helping it?

I love the humvee, however as anyone that's drove both offroad will tell you, it doesn't own the jeep. Depending on what you're doing, it might perform a little better, or a lot worse than a jeep.

Things you have to consider.
1. It doesn't fit on 80% of the trails
2. It's not allowed on many trails due to tread lightly policies
3. It weighs so much if it rolled over the earth would be knocked off axis.
4. It actually gets hung up in spots that a jeep easily passes because of it's long length.

L-Pink 01-02-2008 01:15 PM

I've owned two H-1's. the last is the one in the photo. It's definitely a different kind of vehicle. In the desert and in deep snow maybe the best there is. It wasn't my only vehicle, I work from my house, and drive total of 100 miles a week unless I'm going somewhere. The diesel engine got around 12 mpg on the road, who knows off road.

Every soccer mom uses more fuel per week in her mini van than I would in a month. Who's using more resources?

Selling my H1 this month. It was is an awesome machine. Thought about converting it to run on cooking oil, but someone wanted to buy it, so had to let her go.
