Hey there, im thinking of picking up a brand new iMac 24inch, 2.16GHz, i do mostly design work and i have been running "Adobe Photoshop 7.0" and "Dreamweaver" on my regular hp computer. What i need to know is if my current versions of photoshop and dreamweaver are compatible with iMac pc's or do i need to buy whole new PhotoShop and DreamWeaver software for the iMac? thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this for me,
cheers. Mr.Awesome |

I dont think they are two different versions, one for the PC another one for the Mac so you might have to buy a compatible version of photoshop, I would just upgrade to Photoshop CS3 anyways if you are planning a on buying a new iMac because its way more faster since its actually optimized for the new processors.

are experienced with both ps 7.0 and CS3? is there much of a transition in learning the newer CS3 version, or is it basically the same but with more easier/harder or better funcionality?
Thanks for quick reply BTW Mr.Awesome |

Im not familiar with PS7 and I dont play much with CS3 but the differences dont look big at all, I know some of the major improvements to CS3 for the are the improved speed (true universal build) and the way you can organize your workspace.
You might want to check this video, its a little long but its a good one. http://www.podtech.net/scobleshow/te...with-john-nack |

i think if ur software is for mac..it will be compatible with any mac....because it is backwards compatible..if its for the pc...u could always use parallel with the mac os (it lets u emulate windows on the mac)..then use ur pc software..although i dont recommend this option sine memory is quite slow

There's a huge difference in performance if you are running on an intel based mac. Any non Universal binary application (i.e. a ppc (powerpc), pre intel) will run significantly slower. If you are a heavy dreamweaver and ps users, it's probably a good idea to get CS3.

you'll probably have to get a mac version... you cant just install a PC version on Mac. You would have to run a version of windows on your mac, and that would be slow for an intensive program like photoshop.

I have both Photoshop 7 for the PC and CS3 for the Mac. Haven't played much with CS3 yet but the hotkey combos will be a little different for the Mac.
I don't dig to deep into Photoshop to know the new features but Im sure someone will explain them. |
