Do you wear your seatbelt?

I posted this on another board & got an interesting reaction so I thought I'd bring it over to Gfy...

For me it is the first thing I do when I get in the car. I buckle up! Even if I am driving across a parking lot... force of habbit.

This morning I was driving & looked in my rear view and noticed my son was not wearing his. I could have killed him! He has pulled this crap a couple times lately so finally today I pulled over & really yelled at him about it.

Suddenly now I have to sit and wait and double check on something that he used to do without being told.
So I ask him why this new rebellion against the seat belt & of course the answer is "my Dad doesn't wear one".
He is right too, my ex never wears a seatbelt. Always bothered me.

I call the ex when I get home and ask him if when our child is in the car can he please lead by example & buckle up... he tells me that he always checks to make sure our son is strapped in and I should do the same & I'm not his Mommy so I don't need to worry about what he does, he doesn't want to wear a seat belt & he isn't going to.
I try to explain the "do as I say, not as I do" way of parenting isn't the best way in this situation but he just hangs up.

So what is your opinion on it?
And if you are one who doesn't wear a seatbelt, tell me why...

I don't even realize I put it on most of the time because it's an automatic habit to just put it on the moment I get into the seat.

My ignition key doesn't turn until every person in my car is wearing their belt.

I always wear mine and the kids don't even thin about it. they just put it on. I notice that the generation before ours doesn't wear it as much. I'm 32 and i grew up during my driving years with it pounded into my head. I guess all that money spent in schools is paying off. Now i just hope that we are the last generation to consider not wearing rubbers during sex. I hope my kids just do it without thought like the belts .

I always put mine on. A lot of people die in car crashes because they were not wearing a seat belt. Although I was rear ended and the seat belt caused an injury.

I always put it on right away. Even if I'm only going a few blocks. A seat belt saved my life a few years back.

What is my opinion on it?

1) Your ex is a fucking idiot. If you ever get married again, please don't marry another idiot.

2) Before seatbelt laws came into effect I admit I never wore it ever. But nowadays I always do buckle up, even to drive a few streets over to the bank or supermarket.

Cheers. :D

Only wear one if a cop is seen! Here in Maine it just became a law (New Hampshire still allows you to have your choice!). Don't think its right to FORCE people to wear one.

i've always had a bad habit of not wearing one but now that i have my new car, i have to buckle up or put up with constant beeping. I don't mind it as it reminds me to buckle up.

The day your son witnesses your ex going through the windscreen at 60mph is the day he'll realise how important it is.

You should tell that to your fucking dickhead ex. He shouldn't have a child in the car if he's not belting up.

In the UK, if you get caught, you're looking at up to £500 fine.

It's fucking dangerous. I have been in a fast head on crash and it threw me pretty hard... I had my belt on so luckily I wasn't smashed up bad.

I have my seatbelt light shut off; There is a trick to doing it for each car. I do this because I always start my car up before taking off, and I get tired of hearing the warning sound when I'm not in the car.

But I always wear my seatbelt.

Nope. I hate the seatbelt and if not for those stupid that 'click it or ticket' bullshit that the insurance companies lobbied for I would NEVER put it on. I don't care if it makes me fucking stupid for not wearing one, it should be my right to decide to wear it or not.

I'd never travel an inch in a car without a seatbelt, and I wouldn't drive anyone who wasn't wearing one. It just doesn't make any sense to drive without one. Live is already so dangerous as it is, it's stupid to not do something that you know can save your life.

But I'd like to know: How many of you people who always wear seatbelts still smoke cigarettes?

i used to only wear mine on the highway not during city driving but since the bullshit laws came out that made no seatbelt a moving violation that you have to go to traffic school for and my new car beeps like a bitch if i dont put it on i have got used to wearing one.

I would tell my ex to go fuck herself if she tried to give me shit about something like a seat belt also

That doesn't make any sense. So if I had been wearing a seatbelt and I still died would you still be responsible? That's ridiculous.

My grandmother never wore her seatbelt for fear that it'd keep her strapped in in the event of an emergency.

That's an old wives tale, though... while seatbelts do actually cause the death of a handful of people a year, they save the lives of so many more.

Personally, I wear mine every time. Feel naked without it.

However, I also don't think that the government has the right to regulate it.
