No! Not A New "Star Wars" Movie!!!!

Nooo!!!!

Someone burst into the coffee shop here in Hollywood and said that they were going to make another Star Wars movie!!! It's supposed to take place between Episode 3 and 4 showing Vader hunting down and killing Jedi.

I thought they were going to do a tv series of it all CG but now they're saying they're going to release it as a movie instead????

Hardly... the Star Wars movies that were created were about the Skywalker family, but all of Star Wars is most definitely not.

I want them to make a Star Wars movie about the chick who had a lightwhip.... I'd love to see that thing in action.

OK numbfucks they are going to be TV movies not theater movies. So get the wad out of your panties. Besides who fucking cares if you don't like it don't see it. Now STFU already! I swear most people here either DON'T read or CAN'T read.

The original movie back in '76 originally said it was "episode IV of VIIII" or 4 of 9.

I always remembered that, although it was later changed.

In my mind episodes 7,8 and 9 are still due. (hope they'd be better than 1-3)

Who's more fucked up, me or people whinning about a Star Wars movie? I do not think it is too much to ask for someone to actually READ what something is about before commenting on said issue.

Sounds stupid, but I wish Lucas would've used all his old effects from the 70's on the new Star Wars episodes I, II, and III. Fuck all that CGI bullshit. I like the special effects from the original Star Wars trilogy 100x better than episodes I, II, and III.

I think what I, II, and III really missed more than anything was a Han Solo-type character.

The episodes woulda done a lot better had that element not been missing.

I remember reading as a kid that there would be at least 9 movies as well. And I believe they said that the plots were already in hand. But that was back in the 80's.

No, they didn't. They killed a majority of them. From there, Vader hunts down and kills the remaining Jedi. By the time Episode 4 starts, only 2 remain, Yoda and Kenobi. Both of which Vader believed to have been already dead.

I already knew there would be a minimum of 3 more movies. Shortly after the release of Sith, a report went out that Lucas was going to work on 7 - 9. Many are hoping it is based on the novels by Timothy Zahn, as it was a damn good trilogy, but I know deep down, Lucas will find a way to fuck up Star Wars even more.

if it really did say that, it would have said 'episode IV of IX'

If I remember correctly, the original Star Wars did *not* say 4 of 9 or anything like that.

But... when Return of the Jedi came out, it did say, in big letters, "Episode 5" at the beginning, and news articles of the time were saying at that point that Lucas had revealed that there were 9 episodes.

Then when 6 came out, story goes that people were so pissed off with the ending of 5, that Lucas rewrote the story and tied everything up all neat and tidy, thereby eliminating what he'd written as stories 7-9.

I dunno how much of any of that is true, just what I read at the time. (I'm old...

I still don't get how such a few dozen Jedi ran the entire galaxy. A galaxy has so many planets it's unfathomable. Yet we only see about a dozen planets through the whole damned 6 movies. Then we see only 6 or 7 Jedi get hunted down. The whole movie series looks like it takes place in the same solar system much less a galactic empire. To kill that many jedi spread throughout the galaxy would have taken eons and they only had a few hundred thousand clones if you remember.

The numbers are way off in the storytelling.

Lucas can't turn down the Star Wars movies. The money is immense. Sure he doesn't need anymore but his friends and charities do. As the technology has improved CG wise it may make it easier to make but not inexpensive. This is one of my biggest complaints since the first CG was done in films and we started working on CG. The cost of movies and tv shows was supposed to drop drastically. Here we are almost 20 years later and they've skyrocketed to unrealistic proportions. We don't even use sets anymore so what's costing so much money? We don't use anywhere near the number of stunt people or animals so what's costing so much?

See my point? Lucas is smart. He's not going to be stupid enough to spend $250 million per movie. He's going to shoot for a max of $150 mill and less but get more bang for his buck. I'm sure he's looking for a way to do mo cap ( motion capture ) and art acts ( artificial actors ) s o he doesn't have to pay big headed salaries.

He could so rock with three movies after the the series or a middle trilogy of Vader. Who knows. He's done so much for so many people even his fucking up is a money maker.

All I know is they fucked up Lost In Space and we need a new revived Star Trek franchise.

Then when 6 came out, story goes that people were so pissed off with the ending of 5, that Lucas rewrote the story and tied everything up all neat and tidy, thereby eliminating what he'd written as stories 7-9.

I dunno how much of any of that is true, just what I read at the time. (I'm old...
The reason Return of the Jedi sucked so much was because of the Ewoks. He originally wanted the battle to take place against the Wookies but you couldn't do that technically back then so he had to use midgets and dwarves instead and reversed the name from wookie to ewok.

I too recall there being mentioned 9 episodes. Three before the original trilogy and three afterwards following the adventures of Luke, Leia and Han's kids and even a story that moved into our own galaxy to our time.

Who knows. We'll see. If it's Star Wars I'll watch it.

First of all Return of the Jedi was Episode 6 not 5. I did see Star Wars in the movie theater, but I was young. So I can rememebr if it said Episode 4 or not. I do remember seeing The Empire Strikes Back and it did in fact say Episode 5. This was in 1980.

And no one was pissed at 5. Actually The Empire Strikes Back was considered the best of the original 3.

Yep... those are the ones.

I don't think any author came as close to capturing the essence of the SW paradigm as Zahn did in those books.

Empire Strikes Back is one of the best sci-fantasy movies I've ever seen. I must've seen it 100 times in the theatres when it came out. Just lots of fun and great music.
