I'd be in heaven when they do come out.
As long, as my provider can handle the speed...I am game.

You know FiOS can do better than that don't you?

From the Verizon website this is the fastest speed offered
Up to 30 Mbps/5 Mbps

from an article

"The top speed currently available through FiOS is 50 Mbps, but the network is already capable of providing 100 Mbps and the fiber lines offer nearly unlimited potential."

For the short term...cable is faster. And everyone can max out their connections on cable (in most areas, outside of nyc etc.) FIOS operates on the shared bandwidth level, so at 6pm in a good sized neighborhood your fucked into 4mbps.

Cable companies will (for the next 2 years) still rule the chicken coop. Until bandwidth is so inexpensive & home computers are fast enough to even utilize 100mbps connections.

wow, i so am ready for that but knowing the cable company they will fuck up the price. 10mps here is like $60/mo for 6 mos then $80/mo. 150mps and I bet they are over $100/mo.

How is cable faster when FiOS has speeds up to 30Mbps/5Mbps?

I'm paying Charter $70 a month for a a 10Mbps/1Mbps while those in FiOS areas pay $50 for $15Mbps/2Mbps. Yeah cable is better.

Gold tier, and they are bumping up upload speeds a little at at time. Mine just doubled about a month or so ago.

Just did this test 10 seconds ago.

I'm not in a Comcast area but the nearest one to me which is about 10 miles away, the fastest speed offered is 8 Mbps.

pffft....your little 100k comcast speed tests are fun & all....considering they burst you to 10-15mbps (for up to the first 5mb's you download), then it slows down to shit

FIOS, its 2pm....the lines would all be tied up right now & theres no way your getting this speed...if you are, show us some real world tests

you guys get back to me when you've got something real world to show us

like this from 5 seconds ago on a 2.2gb file on a cable line
