Why I Hate Living in TX this time.......

of year.....TORNADOES!!! The weather sucks here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area today. We are having major storms and tornado warnings and this is a HUGE draw back of living in this area of the country!

I've lived in Dallas since the early 80's, and have yet to even see a tornado. I wouldn't stress out about it too much

I've always wanted to go do that. I've seen water spouts while on a boat but never a tornado.

The one chance I had of course I wasn't home. Last year a tornado went right over the building I live in and broke a bunch of windows and tore up the roof a little. I didn't get to see it because I was out of town.

In every city you have different weather patterns. If you moved to Boston you replace the word tornado with snow. If you lived in California you would say earthquakes. You can't get away from nature.

I grew up in North Texas too, about 4 of us from the board are from this area.

In Dallas we have pictures of 3 or 4 at once.. I have heard many, seen more than my share. I have picked up baseball sized hail. I have seen the temp go from 90+f to 30f in hours and it start snowing with lightening.

The storms don't bother many. I called my dad during the storms yesterday and the hail sirens were going off when I called, he was sleeping.. No reason to move unless you can hear the train coming.

Yeah...that's the attitude my parents have....but I'm afraid of them because I was pretty young when I saw a tornado so I now have a pretty big fear of them. BTW....since there are a few on here from North Texas....ever hear of Wichita Falls? I got out as fast as I could!!

I have to agree with you there.......Houston and San Antonio and all down in that area is super humid.....you start sweating as soon as you even think about walking outside during the summer.

WOW...not from TX and you've heard of Wichita Falls....there isn't much there. Actually, it is getting much bigger now but I still don't want to live there. I guess some people have heard of it because there is an air force base there.

Don't forget the plagues of grasshoppers! I remember one summer the pond under NYNY's statue of liberty was full of dead hoppers and even the elevators inside the casinos were littered with them.

Texas ain't that bad.

You have a better chance of dying in a car wreck than having a tornado or hurricane kill you. 40,000 people die in car related accidents every year in the U.S.A. Guess how many die in tornados? A drop in the proverbial bucket.
