Now that was just stupid. A paid day off from work is a "paid day off from work". What part don't you get?

Gee, a day for blacks that involves getting paid without working. How unexpected.

Uh... I am a business owner and work for myself. There are no "paid days off from work". What part don't you get?

Well, I don't consider MLK day to be just for Blacks.

The civil rights act of 1964(MLK pushed it) is for everybody and women should know that it's the act that gave them the right to get their jobs back after maternity leave. Before this, women were basically fired for getting pregnant.

Now, who's fault is that?

Well said, and you beat me too it. Amazing how much people don't know about their own history, and how quick they are to blame.
MLK would have taken a bullet for you. He wasn't about race, he was about right and wrong.

That was a murder mystery starring Gene Hackman.
It didn't have a thing to do with segregation.

What would happen if I made that statement publicly? What would happen to any white politician if they made that statement? They would be SLAUGHTERED.

What year are you living in? You sound like a 1950's white american male. Typical.
When injustice is done, people should bitch, and I am sorry, but the world is not a nice place and black people still get discriminated against, and unarmed men are still shot by police officers.
You can change it around to "poor black", but the reality of the situation is, all thought the majority of blacks in America live in peace and harmony but in some instances are not treated fairly.
Nor are Mexicans, Asian Americans, Women, Arab Americans, the list goes on.

So if you are tired of hearing it, then stop turning your head the other way when you see it happen, and don't try and turn injustice into something that doesn't affect you, or your mother, your sister, or your kids.

You do not live on an island. and don't get me started on your "crutch crap", take your insecurities somewhere else.

Another ignorant statement. I don't know what nationality you are, but at the very least, your mother, and grandmother benefited from the civil rights struggle of the 50's and 60's. It was about equality for all Americans, and at the time, women, your mother included, were not treated equally. But the only racist thing you could think of is that MLK is a "Black" day so you could have something negative to say.
You are an idiot!

Stating my OPINION that MLK day is a Black day isn't a racist comment.

Me saying that MLK was a filthy coon n1gger is racist. :winkwink:

So, you don't want an excuse to take a day off from working for yourself?

Are you saying that you will get no sign ups on MLK day if you go out for a picnic? Give me a break.

Paddy's Day isn't a federal holiday, even so I don't do a lot of drinking period so I wouldn't really care if it was for the Irish. I don't really care if MLK is for black people lol, I believe it is and that is fine. He did a lot for black people (and women) but I'll always see it more as a black day. The only beef I have with it at all is that I don't believe it should be a federal holiday.
