Why is race the thing that you would single out to degrade. Only uneducated idiots do that, because THEY KNOW, that it will draw blood. It is intentional. It is not a mistake, unless you have been in the woods your whole life. If you are using a corporate station and are governed by the FCC, you have a responsibility not to make insensitive and racist comments. It's not censorship because it is not your station. It's just a show that you were hired to perform. there are rules just like any other place that you work. the fact that it's not subscription and available on the public airwaves of the United States of America, makes you accountable for what you say about other citizens. You don't have a right to express yourself on someone else's dime, using their platform, resources and license. That's like saying you have a right to come to my house and download spy ware, because it came from your email address. When you are using someone else's shit, you don't have any "rights". |

Why don't you come back when there is a "Would you hit it?" thread. Then you can express yourself on an even intellectual playing field.:thumbsup |

Further, Imus is an entertainer just like Chris Cock. Those racial jokes ought to flow both ways, although I didn't think 'nappy headed hoes' was even racially charged. |

Then how do you know what is offensive to them? |
Quote:
Nice job:thumbsup Don't get the impression that I am all offended. I could really give a fuck about IMUS. The shit was out of line. The offensive part is so many people telling others, what they should be offended about based on comedy central. I hope you don't vote, if that is really your understanding of the world. |

Judging by your inherently-endowed-with-wisdom tone, you clearly fancy yourself an intellectual. However, your endless pursuit of this debate is not the heroic exercise in intellectual discourse that you imagine. Make no mistake, you are not a champion guarding the aisles of The Marketplace of Ideas. Rather, you are a whiny pain in the ass who insists on jamming his view of the world down everyone else's throats. This course of action places you into the category of "asswipe" rather than "deep thinker". You can engage in all the hyperbole you like and carry on with those who dare to disagree with you. The reality remains the same, however. There is an obvious double standard in what is acceptable to say in public when it comes to any statement fringing on any 'racial' borders. |

I didn't know he was canceled until this thread. I would have been OK if they just made his life a living hell for a week, maybe some FCC sensitivity classes or send him to services at a black church in Selma, Alabama. But it wasn't my call. But I was equally upset when Jesse Jackson called Manhattan "Hymie Town". The only thing I could think was, "Aw man, what the fuck did he just say that shit for?" I though he was equally an idiot, and I like Jesse. |
If Imus had said a racial slur, such as if he had said 'they are a bunch of porch monkey hoes' or 'they are a bunch of nignog hoes', I doubt many would be defending him. Personally I would because I believe in free speech, but there is a world of difference between calling someone a porch monkey/nignog/n1gger and "nappy haired".

I am not denying the double standard, but no one ever says anything until shit like this comes up, and then it's, "Well what about Chris Rock?" Has anybody ever written Chris Rock, or any other stand up and voiced offense, or do you just use it as justification. Chris Rock is a stand up comic, on Comedy Central. IMUS was on MSNBC. Big difference. You have to pay to see Chris Rock, IMUS...on public air waves. Besides, you are missing the most important factor. You have to be a brave mother fucker to piss of EVERY BLACK WOMEN in the entire country. The average Black Man don't want to piss off one. |
He doesn't deserve to be fired. It wasn't a racist remark - it was a mean thing to say, and the latter comment he made was in reference to a Spike Lee film. He just spoke off the top of his head trying to be funny. "Insensitive" humor is often funny. By the same token I think the likes of Jesse Jackson should have been taken off the air years ago (or better yet, never given a forum at all). Imus has always been a dick and says mean things to all types of people, for the sake of humor, not hate. That's his schtick. So be it.
|
I don't think he deserves to be fired either, but, there is no free speech on someone else"s dime.

I seem to remember Jesse Jackson, during the Regan era, going over to Iran, by himself, and coming back with American Hostages that were held in captive for 444 days. How soon we forget.:( Would you go to Iran by yourself? That's some Patriotic shit right there! * Salute* |

I didnt use the "n word" until I lived in a black neighborhood. The majority of the crime was Black VS Black without a white person in sight. Until you live it for yourself, gullable white people can be brainwashed to feel guilty and believe the whole "blame the white man" crap. However, now that im living in a fairly upper-class community, I see plenty of smart, well spoken, and successful black people doing just fine. Which makes it clear - theres a difference between "NlGGERS" and "Black People". Same with whites and rednecks, mexicans and wetbacks, etc. I am Mexican. The difference between me and a wetback is that I speak english and paid attention in school. Thats the exact same difference between a n1gger speaking ghetto ebonics bullshit and wondering why they cant get a job. Really, it seems like companies JUMP at the chance to hire a well-spoken black person for 'diversity'. Ghetto n1ggers have no excuse. People like Sharpton convince them its the white mans fault instead of telling them to take out the gold teeth, buy pants that fit, learn to speak properly, and they'll be fine. White idiots like you just back up that false point. |

It doesn't matter what anyone says. You are simply upset that someone got screwed for having the same racial views as yourself. That?s fine you have that right but arguing with you is pointless because your hate controls you. |

You'll have to go back to find the Jesse Jackson hostage deal. The hostages were actually taken during the Carter administration when the Ayatolla Khomeini was the leader of Iran.
They were actually release to Jesse Jackson after Carter lost the election to Regan. Many Americans felt that Jimmy Carter sending Jesse to negotiate with terrorists for the release of our citizens, was why he lost the election. |

Jesse Jackson went to Iran and successfully negotiated the realase of an American Airforce pilot just before the hostages were released. His impact on the release of the hostages has not been discussed much. |

I'm just saying that he is trying to mention that event but the facts are not correct. |
