I just hit this thread, so I'm not going to comment on anything except this...

We are one of the few companies that I am aware of that makes sure you are compliant before gaining access to our content.

In addition, once you are compliant we provide you with all the documentation you need.

When dealing with this 2257 issue I highly recommend that you contact an attorney. Do not use what you hear on the boards as legal advice.

Bloomer 04-04-2007 06:51 PM

Its amazing totally amazing some webmasters out there actually started some other threads on this subject of 2257!

Holy Shit.:thumbsup

Oh and I see finally that someone has actually seen the part about the content being of a human nature or not!

WOW.

there just may be people out there that can interp what they READ!

2257 is so confusing it is a wonder that anyone without a law degree *and* a computer science degree could figure it out.

2257 may also be unconstitutional because it presumes guilt. If you can't prove the girls are 18+ --you are automatically guilty.

I am chauncy 04-04-2007 09:59 PM

fuck it took a long time to read this thread so basically the only change (if you are doing it right and have 2257 docs on all content you have purchased and/or produced) is that now sponsors are going to have to give you access to there docs if you are using there content to promote there sites seems pretty simple to me not much to freak out about. I think almost all sponsors will comply its in there best interest and as a webmaster if you don't time to get the info from you sponsors once it is available then well its Darwinism for this industry which probably wouldn't be a bad thing

I am a producer ... and actual producer ..and distributor with a great affilate program to market and promote my products .. ..and in my impression of this whole fricken deal is this .. as a webmaster .. you are not actually a producer .. and you should not be liable for anything to do with this whole 2257 fiasco .. webmasters are "Distributors" or "Marketers" of already produced adult content created and legally verified by the producer of the content .. the reason TV and PPV will never have to worry about it is that they purchase the content from "Production companies" who actually produce the content and the entire liability falls on the producer to be compliant ... and to sum it up..I personally don't give a rats ass I have ll my content hosted outside the US and produce it out side the US .. I looked past all of this and made obviously a awesome decision to keep my gold out of the tyranny formerly called the good ol' USA

Yeah, but that so called good ol' USA decided to categorize webmasters as secondary producers & are now subject to the same liabilities & requirements of the primary.

So then if i buy a New Dodge from the dealer down the road in Seattle and it turns out to be defective and it blows up and decapitates my ex-mother in law yipppeeee...and wipes out a bus load of migrant workers killing them all ...i guess then the actual dealer who sold me the vehicle because he is a good damn talker is liable ???..good stuff .. you know what they don't have a leg to stand on in a court of law ..they can make all the laws they want but actually try a case and I am sure there are a few presidents out there that would destroy it in seconds .. just my opinion

I really like the way you think.
By the way to everyone reading this wait till next year and see what happens.
My bet is once they make the people responsible for the use of porn they will then start to TAX such depictions sold within the U.S. borders and it will be much like that of a sale of a car as you have mentioned!

Every time it is sold there will be a tax regardless!

Like I said before this is their government and they will drag this ito and out of the mud 100 times over until they find a way to make money off of it!

Mark, I think you may want to reconsider your policies with regards to non-us based webmasters. US law is for Americans... it isn't for anyone else.

Damm... I'm wondering ... why is such matter only extensively discussed by "secondary producers" and the actual SPONSORS or "producers" are not giving any advice at all??... except for the Naughty America Sponsor a few posts above!...... This affects us the TGP/MPG/etc owners but IF we all get taken down by this 2257 issue .... WTF do they think will happen to their business???

Let me put it simple:
Not that many webmasters to promote your stuff = A huge decrease in your traffic.

A huge decrease in your traffic = a huge decrease in your money!...

And yeahh.. I know there are a lot of webmasters outside of the US borders doing their stuff and that's cool... but the amount of U.S. webmasters should represent a significant amount of the traffic and business they are currently getting!.

So SPONSORS... please give your word of advice....

This 2257 is all a US Government wichhunt, it just amazes me.
Why?
Cause all the people who will actually follow the rules are those who would not shoot any illegal content in the first place. Anyone who shoots CP or any weird crap didnt give a fuck in the first place, and neither does he now. Like some guy shooting 15 year olds is now gonna go: "Shit, my buisiness is fucked now with these laws!"

This is all a hunt. They are getting to online gambling. Get the far right wingers out of office and things will get better.
