That's a gross exaggeration, but I do expect them to get some traffic from people who weren't aware of the switch, yes.

They've turned into a banner farm?

That's just sad.

Hello Everyone,

In case this was not clear, last week a thread was posted as well as a story (in XBIZ) about the management of sex.com changing over.

This took place on Friday night and through the weekend. We had e-mailed our trade partners and made our best efforts to contact them about this change over. The majority of them were made aware that this was the case. Obviously, we would have liked to have gotten to every single one of them, but a few may have missed this. We did not put out a statement about this due to not being fully sure what the status of the TGP would be until late last week. Likewise, we had to be fair to the new management and allow that transition to take place smoothly.

As for the traffic trades, if you have not already noticed or have not gotten our e-mail pertaining to this matter, we apologize sincerely. Under perfect conditions, we would have clearly and publicly made a statement. However, we did not know if it would continue to run and that decision came down later in the week. As such, we had to wait for the announcement to be made, but that left us with little time to notify people.

We do have several TGP properties that we are happy to take trades on. We do have a link on sex.com going to one of these, and we do appreciate them keeping this there for us during this period. Likewise, we have more properties with traffic buys from other good tgps (which also have some decent existing trades). We’ll be ramping these up in the coming days and months. Please feel free to contact us and examine some of our offerings here:
h-t-t-p://getporn.com/trade.html

Thank You,

PB traffic

Escom Names New CEO/President, Plans to Revamp Sex.com

For those of you who missed it, read about the most recent Sex.com news here (as reported by AVN):

Escom Names New CEO/President, Plans to Revamp Sex.com
By: Jed Nottingham
Posted: 11:00 am PST 3-27-2007

LOS ANGELES - Escom LLC, the company that bought the controversial Sex.com domain almost a year and a half ago for a reported $14 million, has hired Del Anthony as the new chief executive officer and president to lead in the revitalization of the site.

Anthony, formally the chief operating officer of VS Media, has extensive Internet development experience, including a comprehensive knowledge of the space. Anthony will oversee a complete reorganization and restructuring of Sex.com.

This is the first of many announcements Escom will be making in the coming months, according to a company statement. Escom plans to upgrade its business model and brand image, veering away from the "banner farm" the site had become and toward a refined, mainstream, adult-friendly, user-powered portal and social network, the statement noted.

Anthony told AVNOnline he is excited about the upcoming changes at Sex.com, saying they are only the beginning.

"Our goal is to turn the domain into what it should be?a world-class destination and online society for all things adult. Expect a complete metamorphosis," Anthony promised. "We are going to build the site into an enormously powerful brand. Sex.com will appeal to a much broader market segment, with more focus on women users, and shake loose the negative stigma associated with adult sites. Our objective is to go as mainstream as we possibly can in terms of some of our new partnerships, as well as the new technologies that we'll be using. The domain name itself can easily be transitioned into something more mainstream."

The new Sex.com site will be Web 2.0-compliant, offering a multitude of options including video and photo content, shopping, news, community, survey statistics, and more.

"The site will be refreshing, lively, and unconventional," said Anthony. "We are going to completely redo our image. Unique, informed, lifestyle-driven, socially networked: These are just some of the concepts visitors will associate with the site in the future. This new positioning will help us expand the brand way beyond merely driving Internet traffic to the world's best domain. We have a branding company that we are working with now that we feel is confident in helping us obtaining these goals."

Escom has been building momentum over the past several weeks by inking partnerships with high-profile industry leaders across the globe. While the deals give Escom a head start with modern content, Anthony explained the company is working to acquire additional partners that offer products and services of mass appeal, to fill in any service gaps.

"We will lead by example and partner with key industry leaders," he said. "The best of the best modern adult applications will find a lucrative, white-labeled home at Sex.com. So, if you fall into that category, please get in touch with us ASAP."

The company plans to open a new Los Angeles office soon and is hiring experienced professionals to fill numerous roles, Anthony said.

im 100% sure it makes more money now than with the banner farm two weeks ago (unless these banners were advertiser spots who were overpaying like 4-5 times )

i'll give you some of my secrets free of charge.
i just took a zanax and i'm feeling melow. ;)

i have a link list (link dump i should say) i joined every affiliate program with my niche thinking visitors would be interested in at least one of the links or galleries when they visited my site. then i tried something different.

i went into my ccbill account and looked up a whole year of sales to see which sites brought in the most sales. then i put the top 8 sites on my main page with descriptions, (no teaser photos) then i created a page and named it link.htm. i put my webmaster trades and the other weak sponsors on that page. i named the link page ***webmasters trade here*** and placed it at the bottom of the main page.

so now when new visitors would visit my site, they really didn't have much of a choice to choose from. you have like 3 minutes to grab their attention before they leave. i found it's better to have 2,000 hits a day visit 8 sites instead of 20,000 hits visiting 150 sites and/or a bunch of free galleries.

plus, if you have too many free galleries, visitors have more then enough porn to satisfy them to a point where they really don't need to join any site. plus they get confused and don't know which site to join. cut down on your galleries and have no more then 3 sponsors with 4 MOVIE galleries from each sponsor. (besides the original 8 sponsors with descriptions.)

create a table with a heading of the sponsor (joe blows website) and a table underneath with 4 links to that sponsors galleries. (movie 1 movie 2 etc.)

(do not use teaser pics. they'll now click the link because they're curious. if they don't like the teaser pic you use, they won't click that link at all.)

my advertising budget went from $150 a day to about $20 a day max now and i make almost as much as i did with all the links and a big budget. target your keywords and stick with your niche. don't be tempted to use general terms like sex, porn, xxx etc. you'll be wasting your money. stay on target.

also, i found out that a few movie galleries are better then photo galleries. photo galleries give visitors a chance to fantasize because the pics are still. with movie galleries, it doesn't give them enough time to beat off.

this works well with link list for me. i'm not sure if this is what sex.com is doing with just a few banners. they may be just testing to see what works for them.

i've been doing this since "97" and i keep learning something new everyday. always keep testing, testing, testing.

side note:

i was getting a shit load of hits from google each day when i was spending about $100 bucks a day with them. when they started wanting to charge me $1, $5 and $10 per keyword i had to drop them because i couldn't afford to pay that kind of money. i figured my business was screwed. my sales dropped so low i wasn't sure how much longer i would be in business. i stayed focused and knew i had to think of something and i did. there's an answer to every problem if you don't give up. hope this info helps some of you.

i do miss the other sex.com format before they sold it. i also advertised with them myself. sure wish i owned that name.
Awesome advise, I am taking down all links on FreeOnes right now as it, like you say, doesn't work at all to offer to much free porn. Damn that must be why stats are so shitty

Wicked!

Agreed!

But that's life, you know what to do with the domain but would never ever have it, yet some idiot has it without a clue of what it's for.

It reminds me of how it used to look before Kremen got it back. Not sure how well 90's marketing work now in 2007. Guess we will see but I doubt that 4 banners on a page will do well anymore.

While I'm sure most internet newbs typing in sex.com are looking for porn, he/she could also be looking for sex tips and other things erotic and not necessarily pornographic. It would seem if they were looking for porn they'd type in porn.com first. People typing in playboy.com aren't looking for chicks with 2 dicks in their ass and a gallon of splooge on their faces.

I'm getting nothing. Doesn't resolve.

I did PPC with sex.com years ago and conversions were brutal. The last "relaunch" didn't look like they did much - A link to Advertise went to an email address, not very professional.

If someone who has a clue got this site, they could actually do something with it if isn't too late.

can't imagine that anyone who types in http://www.sex.com today will ever do that again. They are waisting a golden domain. Short rin this "parked" thing will bring in some bucks but eventually it will be the modt useless type in domain.
