Sales reps are good for one thing: spamming the fucking boards

With amazing stories how their sites are doing and how they will hook you up blah blah etc.

When you actually hit them up they either seem totally fucking clueless or will get back at you...which ofcourse never happens.

In the last 10 days i asked 2 companies i wanted to promote for some stuff AFTER they spammed the boards with it and both arent interested it seems.

One person referred me to their affiliate area to find the right promo tools and the other never got back at me after saying he would take care of it.

This is just from the last 10 days. It happens dozens of times every year.

What pisses me off is seeing them on gfy and other boards the next day spamming their shit again.

The problem is the companies recycling the same employees over and over. They go one place and shit the bed, only to immediately find another employer welcome them with open arms. I could go on a rant about this myself but it would be pointless.

Some affiliates are great. Ice is a good example - and I have no need to talk nice about him being as I no longer work with him. Punker Barbie - whom everyone seems to think is a party animal - is also a good example of a good sales rep.

Without sales rep.... Our industry would be rather difficult.

Yes, people would actually start going by the numbers instead of by the board personas.

See sig nig. I ought to hire some reps, maybe outsource some sigmonkeys too.

Blah, too early to make a stupid/witty/annoying comment.

Anyhow, I do agree with the general uselessness of reps, I've NEVER encountered a very good rep. Or, actually the ones that have been good to me have usually turned out to be the owners, or part-owners of the operation.

anything gammae is great, honestly! But i agree with Franck, most are a pain in the ass lol, only i have the opposite happen, they hit me up like i am the fucking hun and wont stop bothering me about some dumb crap i am not going to bother with, i dont sell certain things that dont work for me what i sell i sell great and thats it! I skip the reps and just deal with program owners, it seems to work best, you get a real feel for who you are working with right off the bat and you get things done, if they treat you like you aren't shit because you're not the hun today then you know if they take care of you, you know it's easy, same as when i was in record biz years ago i never delt if AR reps they were a waste of time and energy and cant make decisions. However, I gotta say for most part, most affiliates will be a waste of time for the program owners, and then the affiliate reps are probably good for them, save them BS at least.

Hi guys! I've just read your thread and on the one hand I agree with you but on the other I don't. You see, everything depends on a personality - attitude to work and methods of work. Sales reps should find a compromise between webmasters and their companies, but to achieve it I should say they have to be psychologists. That's bad if they think - "I'll spam webmasters and thus I will show that I'm doing something". It never works because only webmaster knows specifics of his sites and such "promos" of sales reps will be the last thing to be taken into account. And a good sales rep will do it in such a way, that it will never be called spam. For now I can't judge fairly, because it's only my second week here and I haven't dealt with many people from the adult biz, but I believe you're mistaken when trying to generalize all the sales representatives. Again it's all about personality - and all of us are different...

And that's actually a big problem right there. The owners should have NOTHING to do with helping affiliates, instead they should be focusing on maximizing income, improving tours, sourcing content and so on. That's why they have support reps to begin with, so they don't have to deal with affiliates themselves.

Well Franck I have to deny that. Okay I did spam sometimes on boards but rarely...and I DO take care of our resellers. It might be cuz we're small but I do belive that it is important to handle every affiliate as he/she was the only one. With other words I belive in quality and not quantity

Btw I know your story is not about me but as a Sales Rep I had to tell you this

So true...btw it's like if a giant sponsor comes out with a 100% spam thread all the affiliates just cheer and congratulate on it though it's nothin else but a free commercial (okay you can win $1000 or something)...I really see no differnce between that and Paul Markhams stuff for example

No it would be a lot easier, A LOT EASIER.

Imagine if you will for a moment a world where affiliates are not helped, supported, led and fed at every turn. Where they had ZERO support.

How many would survive?

How many surfers would we lose?

Would they be surfers who spend money or surfers who are going for free porn?

Yes many would not be here and for them life would be tough, but for those left it would be a lot easier.

As an industry we chose to support and give affiliates everything and anything they ask for. For some it works, for some it does not.

As an affiliate I need nothing from my sponsors, a few banners and FHGs are nice and I like them but don't need them.

I totally agree with adpayoutbrown.
I try to keep a good balance between my "spam" posts/threads (about new sites, blogs, etc) and other posts.
And if someone hit me up on icq for help, I try to do my best. But don't call me an idiot, if I don't know every answers immediately. Of course I still have to learn a lot.
And now...DON'T see my sig

Personally, I take pride in assisting every single affiliate I come in contact with. Because I love what I do! No matter how much traffic they have. Just yesterday, I personally got over 50 link codes for a site ranked 3mil on Alexa. Maybe one day he’ll have a huge site, and we’ll always have a strong working relationship. I also do it, because I love what I do

My job is to work with my affiliates and assist them in any way I can. If I don't know the answer to a technical question, I admit it, then I go find someone who does know the answer.

You've obviously been dealing with the wrong sales reps.

some reps are very useful, some bug you every single day saying the same stuff about when u are going to start promoting them.

its the affiliate game, try and grab as many as you can to signup, regardless of how you get them.

I agreee with a few comments, don't lump us all together. I rarely post and when I do it's always funny stuff that has happened to me, questions, etc , I maybe mention my program about once a year. I have a sig, if someone is interested, they will contact me, I'm not going to shove it down their throat... not to mention there are rules about advertising on the board and the guys that spam all over usually get a public flogging. ;)

What percentage are college grads? I would like to throw one into the hat for that apparent minority.

UCLA grad here.

I agree, So many times Ive asked some bigger companies for certain material and they 'might' get back to me 2 weeks later with an email lacking what I originally asked for.

I know when I was an affiliate manager people were astonished by me getting them their wants within 15 minutes. Its not that hard.

Amazes me how many people are respected here and high up on the porn food chain that really dont know shit...that just dont fill their spot as best as they could ...

but hey...

who likes cocoa?
