Is this $300 the commission? I've seen people say $300 when it really meant $300 in sales and $15 in commission.

If so, congratulations, very cool. I haven't done anything with mainstream in years.

you ain't gotta tell me man

the great thing is, you find one good sponsor that can pay well, and you can make some nice money if you work just a tiny bit a day

I have one sponsor I am making an average of $56 a sale with, last sale yesterday was $70....I am averaging 2-3 sales a day just because I took the time to do it right and really worked my ass off to sell the product

I have one sponsor that is paying me $1.20 a CLICK right now, I am still trying to work that one to the max

I concur. 90% of my income comes from mainstream. I started with mainstream. Adult is pretty much just a little hobby of mine that pulls in a bit of extra money.

Will someone please explain how to make money in mainstream? What to promote, how to promote it, etc? I'm not asking that to sound like a smart ass, I really need advice.

I understand how to make money in adult, even with a blog. Problem is...I hate adult. But I can't for the life of me make a cent with mainstream. I been pushing CJ stuff for two months, and have made a grand total of $1.79.

So please, if anyone has some pointers on how to make money in mainstream...please share.

a lot of mainstream affiliate programs look like some bad infomercial on late night acid - i feel like a sucker even reading them .... anyone got a good list of ones without a "get rich and leave your wal mart job!" sales pitch?

I feel the same way. Commission Junction seems pretty good, I'm just not making anything with them. I am guessing that's my fault, not theirs. I have one sort of mainstream thing that I make decent money off of, but I would love to go completely into mainstream and leave adult behind altogether. Anyone got suggestions please?

Just like in Adult, I feel that you will find more success in Mainstream by niching yourself.

For example, LeadFLash focuses on the sub-prime niche; specifically Payday Loans and Auto Loans.

You have to figure out the type of traffic you have and or need to generate for the specific niche. I can personally say and have said in the past that our conversions blow anything away that I have seen in Adult in a long ass time. Stats speak louder than words! Hit me up, I'd be happy to share!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

BTW, www.gotwebhost.com loves mainstream too, and if you get into it, you will love what it is we offer.

Additionally, if you have mainstream sites with unique content, and want to do some major link building, you should contact me for info on our latest project that we just launched.

Get in on the ground floor and lock in your rates before we raise our prices . . . and we will raise our prices for sure.

Ok, then let me rephrase my question(s). I understand that niches are important, and you need to find one, maybe two, and stick with them. If you try to promote everything, then you don't make shit. Unfortunately, I've found that out the hard way.

So what is something good to promote...and how do you promote it?

Adult, in the beginning, sort of came easy to me. I got lucky I suppose, because when I first launched my blog(s), I was making pretty good with them, but then I got burned the fuck out. I mean, there is only so many times you can talk about how hot a chick is before you really start to not care anymore.

But with mainstream, I am clueless. What do I promote, how do I promote it (blogs sure as hell aren't doing the trick for me), etc.? Again, any and all advice is appreciated.

have you ever asked yourself WHY? it works... look at all of the ads on Clickbank... why do they all look and read the same? Because that is what works.

I have one sort of mainstream thing that I make decent money off of, but I would love to go completely into mainstream and leave adult behind altogether. Anyone got suggestions please?
Slam,
Saying you are not making anything with CJ is a very broad statement. CJ has 1000's of merchants/advertisers (including one of our sites-wegivecash.com). You again need to determine what nice you want to promote and then go after those SPECIFIC merchants/advertisers.

There is no magic bullet, which it seems you are trying to find. There are many opportunities in mainstream. You should take the facets of what you have learned in Adult and apply them to mainstream. There are many similarities, however there are many differences.

In addition, base your decisions upon conversions...and don't get lured in just by high payouts. The #1 issue I see publishers make is that they make there decision on the wrong numbers. Look at numbers such as Click thru to conversion ratios and EPC's.

Also keep in mind: 99.9% of Cookie Cutter sites do not work... No matter how much someone may claim they do.

ugh - can't they save that shit for the surfer? - spare the affiliates - at least porn companies just have a car or something in their webmasters area - not a fat kid with a fistful of bills - my iq goes down a few points looking at it ...

anyway, good luck ...

Thanks for the advice. To clear something up, I'm not looking for a "magic bullet". I'm a geek who likes to spend 18 hours a day at my computer (that's not sarcasm, I really do), so I'm not opposed to working hard to get something to convert.

My problem is, I don't know how to get any of it to convert. Besides my adult stuff, I pretty much only run "sports entertainment" (yeah, wrestling...y'all can laugh now) sites, which cater to the 18-34 demographic. So, I loaded up the sidebar with links to stuff that I thought would appeal to that demo...movies, music, etc. CT is doing well...but no conversions. Any suggestions on what I should be doing differently or what other kind of site I should start? Thanks again!
