Thoroughbreds are not allowed to be artificially inseminated. If someone did that then the offspring wouldn't be allowed to race.

i never understood why they had to put down thoroughbred horses until i had a girlfriend whose dad was a pretty famous thoroughbred veterenarian and he told me why. Barbaro got every chance veterinary technology could give him to survive - 8 months of loving care and the best money could buy - the vet in charge always said that they would call it off if and when they felt Barbaro was suffering. supposedly they learned a lot during the 8 months and horses in the future will benefit from the unique medical case that was Barbaro's.

I hate to say it, but a that horse was poked and prodded for so much sperm and DNA before it was all over....plus he was insured for millions.
It sucks that such a graceful animal is reduced to tubes of blood, chemicals and fluids for resale.
