Whatever the cost, you're not paying for the air, and they aren't making 100% profit on said air.

What you are paying for is the can itself, and the cost of the process to get the air inside the can.

Btw, for the price of about 40 cans of compressed air you can buy your own air compressor. :D

Not a bad idea... you can get a cheap one for $20, a one designed to inflate car tires.... and you just need an attachment for it, and you are good to go, free compressed air forever

The people who sell bottled water got together with the guy who had the idea to give air away for FREE, and schooled him. They showed him to to make money with this free product, and sell it for $8 a can.

It's not air inside of those cans, anyway. It's a compressed fluorocarbon. (Fluorine in a covalent bond with carbon).

As far as huffing goes, there are usually bitterants in the can (if you spray a lot in a small room you can taste the bitterant on the back of your tongue).

Pretty neat stuff...I used to sell a whole lot of them.

Radio Shack in Canada (now called The Source) sells a normal size can for almost $15 :P

In fairness to the canned air industry, some air is worth the expense, as it is oil free for use in cleaning sensitive optical coatings. But I don't like paying it.

Those things plug into your vehicle's cig lighter, but yes, there is a way to use it in the house I'm sure. You'd just need an adapter to plug it into, then plug the adapter into the wall socket. And with that attachment you mentioned you should be good to go.

I bet the entire package would cost maybe $50 or $60 max in most areas. And at least this way you'd KNOW that it is in fact air you are using, not some glut of chem vapors. :D

I bought one of those small vacuum machines that does a good job of blowing dirt out too. It was $70 from tigerdirect. It's not as strong as the canned air, it doesnt blow as hard. But it does a great job when I need to dust out my computer every three months. Its called 'Datavac'
