Why is canned air......
$8 a can? What a rip off! It is compressed air and propellant! :disgust
Damn..perhaps there is a market in selling air
must be the expense of making the little plastic tube to fit in the nozzle for a more direct blast of air!! :1orglaugh
If you are paying $8 a can you should be asking yourself why since you can get it a lot cheaper than that.
damn rip off....

Whatever the cost, you're not paying for the air, and they aren't making 100% profit on said air.
What you are paying for is the can itself, and the cost of the process to get the air inside the can. Btw, for the price of about 40 cans of compressed air you can buy your own air compressor. :D |

I think we buy it for 3.50-4.00 at walmart.

The people who sell bottled water got together with the guy who had the idea to give air away for FREE, and schooled him. They showed him to to make money with this free product, and sell it for $8 a can.

It's not air inside of those cans, anyway. It's a compressed fluorocarbon. (Fluorine in a covalent bond with carbon).
As far as huffing goes, there are usually bitterants in the can (if you spray a lot in a small room you can taste the bitterant on the back of your tongue). Pretty neat stuff...I used to sell a whole lot of them. Radio Shack in Canada (now called The Source) sells a normal size can for almost $15 :P |
they sell them at the dollar store here
In fairness to the canned air industry, some air is worth the expense, as it is oil free for use in cleaning sensitive optical coatings. But I don't like paying it.

The guys who invented Liberator Shapes Sex Pillows, originally got rich in the 80's with compressed air.
It's dehydrated, static-free air with leprechaun blessings on it. that's why.
You can also get compressed CO2 which doesn't need a propellant (I think?)

I bet the entire package would cost maybe $50 or $60 max in most areas. And at least this way you'd KNOW that it is in fact air you are using, not some glut of chem vapors. :D |
I always thought it was nuts when I worked for electronics store that the "canned air" was priced more than the "component cooler spray", but the contents are 100% identical, lmao.
I bought one of those small vacuum machines that does a good job of blowing dirt out too. It was $70 from tigerdirect. It's not as strong as the canned air, it doesnt blow as hard. But it does a great job when I need to dust out my computer every three months. Its called 'Datavac'
It is air from Mount Olympus. The gods have breathed it.
The otragious cost is more about the packaging and transportation. We buy it by the case when we order office supplies .. I like Viking Products.
Walmart has it for 3.18$ and biglots has it for $2.99
Stop over paying lol |
