SlicksNetwork/DirectNic FINAL Update !!

I'm just letting you know that today, my attorney and I worked with David Nance to get my last 4 sites back up and running and close the case. Everything is back to the way it was I have to say that Mr. Nance was VERY helpful and pleasant in ironing things out and I do greatly appreciate his efforts in solving the matter in a timely fashion

As far as everyone's comments telling me to sue DirectNic. We worked through the problem, and things are back to the way they were. Sure, I did lose a few bucks during the downtime of the sites and a will lose a little more until the sites get back to the traffic they had, but there's really no reason for me to even consider it now because I got my domains back and I'm getting back to business. I don't need the headaches and I'm sure that DirectNic doesn't either.

Like I said in my last update, DirectNic was just trying to work through this matter and were trying to work with me on verifying some content. Sure, some people might argue if they do or don't have the authority to police my sites, but they did ask me and if I just would've kept it to myself without bringing it over here, I'm sure this all would've been worked out without any sites going down and nobody even would've known about it.

As far as transferring my sites away from DirectNic. I'm sure that's gonna be the next question everyone is gonna have for me. As of right now, I plan on keeping my domains at DirectNic. We worked through the situation and I think that each of us has learned a little from one another. I now have a different outlook on the way I run my sites, as far as watching out for some of the galleries that people might not agree with and I will be working at cleaning up my trades, so I don't have any fears of this situation happening again.

Anyways, I'm not gonna ramble on and on with the same story, so I'll end this post for now. I'm just glad that this is all over. Again, I thank DirectNic for working through this with me. I do honestly believe that they're a good company. Showing how they worked to get me back up and running was proof of that. Perhaps this was just a wake-up call that I needed.

I think I would transfer my domains away anyway. Even when things work out fine in the end, I would wonder if something else might come up someday.

yup I'm sure you lost a ton of traffic and money during that time and even if I didn't sue I wouldn't feel right leaving my domains in thier hands

but glad you have all sites back up

But hold on! If he goes to a new registrar then they may do the same thing and he will then have to go thru this shit all over again. At least Directnic has made a note that his sites actualy are legit.

I still think DN was wrong to "punish" him for comming to the board and posting. They are the ones that should have done a better job of researching his sites before they demanded all these things from him.
They wanted him to jump thru hoops for shit they could have emailed the sponsors about.

I still think he is owed some compensation because he only posted the truth about his situation...the truth is not slander or libel. DN on the other hand wrongfully disabled his sites for revenge against the bullshit they started by not doing a good job of researching the issue before contacting him.

But I also understand why he wouldn't give a shit about compensation because he's just glad to have his sites back right now.

If Slick had had the guts to starve for 2-3 years he could have gotten a few million out of DN IMO. He could have not argued with them after they closed the sites and never put new sites up and then sued for actual damages and "projected" damages(because, of course, his site traffic would have trippled during the time they were down ).

Seriously Slick I think you are taking this way to easy. Unless this post is part of your deal. What you are saying in your own post that they took the sites down because you brought it to the boards.

Don't forget, you didn't even know it was DirectNic until you posted. So for all you may have known at the point of posting is it was just someone trying to screw with you.

Saying DirectNic did what they did just because it blew up on the boards, should show you they do not operate in a true professional manor. By them putting your sites back online, just proves the point that there was nothing illegal on your sites and they jumped the gun.

I hate to quote G. Bush but only his words can make sense here...

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

I moved the names I had with them away and over moniker. I only had two names with DirectNic but they were both my most important names and both teen niche. I know I personally can't take the chance that DN might go overboard again.

That's exactly how I look at it

No, this thread has nothing to do with the deal, I felt I should post it on here to clear the air.

I guess that perhaps I'm too nice of a guy to carry a grudge, instead of dragging things out, I try to look at the bright side of things

i am just curious. you said you learned a lot. Will you continue to use content that looks "questionable" without having 2257 docs on it?

I is apparent this who situation is going to go away, people will forget about it in a couple weeks.

In this situation, you could not verify their age to directnic because you did not have the documents. That is nothing compared to what could have happened if it wasnt directnic but the police trying to verify their age.

As long as you guys use content on your sites that is questionable and you do not have 2257 documents on the content you are playing with fire. If you think a vaild defense is " well all of the sponsors are reputable " then you need to hire an attorney and have him knock some sense into you.

Either way, do what you want. I just can't believe people are this nieve/stupid. Actually I can, never mind, skip this post.

I've never heard of a registrar doing what they did. I'm guessing the odds are slim to none if he goes to someone like Moniker.

slick takes it too court - slick is made out to of maybe had CP on his sites.

I wonder what the local paper would make of that.

slick not suing is a good option as there would be far consequences not online but offline even though he is completly innocent.

If you're sticking with DN then I would try to get something in writing to outline a clear policy for any future "concerns." You don't want the same thing happening again in 6 months.

That's because there's a world outside GFY. As an example. SICcash had a domain shut down by Tucows. Why? Because it was Shawinternet.com and Shaw Cable company in Canada decided it was too much like their name. No judges involved, no FBI, registrar just shut it down.

SICcash later won the domain back but it cost them tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees - none of which is recoverable (Brad's a Jew - if he could get it back, he would!).

Domains get put on hold and canceled all the time. Just not everyone brings it to GFY, or even reads GFY....or even knows GFY exist

Good to see DN and Slick work this out - and as posted both probably learned from it

Good luck Slick

Oh yeah, I forgot to thank everyone for all their support in this matter. I was impressed with all of the people that I had behind me in this, it did mean a lot and it did help me feel better in a time of total stress.

Good point Peaches.

I think they both lost a LOT of respect from a LOT of people through this whole process as well.

At least now they can give their tongues, and MikeAI's anus, a rest. Things had to have been getting pretty damn sore for both of them.

Slick: Honestly, no offense here, but you'd be an absolute idiot to keep your domains with them at this point. I'd move to a registrar that knows what their job is, and doesn't have such ridiculous policies in place, if I were you.

In fact, many already have.

People behind you is not always a good thing..... You'll have lots of people behind you if you drop a soap in a shower at maximum security correction facility
