A recent study examined the theory that being fatter can actually hurt one's cognitive abilities. Does fat really equate to stupid?

French researchers examined IQ, memory, attention, and speed of learning for 2,500 middle-aged males and females in 1996 and 2001. Overweight participants scored consistently lower in 1996. When re-examined in 2001, they scored even worse.

Apparently poor metabolic health has some deteriorating properties to the nervous system.

I wonder if someone who is severely overweight loses the weight if their cognitive abilities improve.

I dont know i mean a lot of fat people are doctors on colleges but yet again usualy skinny people are more there.

There are no doubt people that are fat and intelligent. It's possible that they would be more intelligent though, if they were not overweight.

That makes sense, but because of the huge amount of chemicals in processed food, plus hormones in meat and dairy it makes me wonder if
this study was done years ago would it come out differently. If someone is eating clean but at a normal weight and you tested them against someone who is eating processed food yet still a 'normal' weight, wonder what the outcome would be. I think sometimes researchers get a grant based on what they want the outcome to be and skew the tests and questions to that end.

I overthink everything.
