A recent study examined the theory that being fatter can actually hurt one's cognitive abilities. Does fat really equate to stupid?

French researchers examined IQ, memory, attention, and speed of learning for 2,500 middle-aged males and females in 1996 and 2001. Overweight participants scored consistently lower in 1996. When re-examined in 2001, they scored even worse.

Apparently poor metabolic health has some deteriorating properties to the nervous system.
