OK, this right here is conclusive proof that you are still sig-whoring. If you visited that website (or knew anything about it, like, what they sell) you wouldn't have asked such a stupid question. Why don't you visit the website and you tell me why I would not just buy one from my local store.

Ah well, I should stop badmouthing Apple. Most of my resentment for them comes from the days when I had to deal with their old POS boxes from way back when, they have come quite a ways since then. I may be forced to actually consider them again. What is the deal with interopperability, I can run OpenOffice.org for my office suite, what about windows apps on it? |

When desktop drives are at 750GB, I don't think a 500GB laptop is such a big request, even if it was two separate drives. Toshiba has a laptop with two HDDs, but they are both 120GB drives. What are these people thinking when they design these things? I mean I can understand having a entry level model, but Jesus Christ, even their "high performance" models are still entry level on the specs department. |

Ideally, what I want is this thing (full specs here). The only thing I don't like about it is the tiny ass hard drives. But having two drives would permit software RAID, which would be kinda sorta nice, cant decide on that yet, or I could make one the OS drive and the other a data drive, or mirror them or something else. No need for dual boot, I plan to get rid of XP/Vista and not look back, so I want a bridge back as I know I will be too tempted to cross that bridge.
But I don't want Windows on it and that lappy has alot of proprietary shit (the fingerprint reader, the stuff on the mouspad, etc) and I am not knowledgeable enough about Linux to try to tackle such a problem. What I really need to do is find someone who is super-knowledgeable about Slackware and get them to do it for a fee, but all of the Linux whores I know are too busy doing thier own shit right now, moving, sucking their boss off for another promotion, etc to be taking on side projects. |

Most PCs and laptops have drivers written already if you go with something like RedHat. I know a few years ago it was more important to take a look at the hardware to make sure it was compatible with linux, but I've installed on several machines including laptops and haven't had issues in years.
