I learned this earlier in the week they dont have any. Xbiz putting someone from GUBA in their magazine.
The big 2257 meeting where the fbi invited companies they saw as industry leaders to come. These so called leaders share no info with anyone.

In the past I'd have done deals on a handshake and everyone would be happy - that is not the case with online adult.

There has been an emergence of "facilitators" who were either too ambitous (with an ambition which often does not match their abilities) or were too greedy or, had other agendas. Transaction processors and others fall into that league.

Another factor is the ease at which anyone with a computer can commence operating a biz on the net. The usual phrases like.. "Easy money" are an obvious attraction - even to most unqualified and incapable people with no biz accumen. In "offline adult" they would never get off the ground.

Bottom line... "offline adult" has changed very little. Online is another issue where vetting is vital - it matters little how high profile the names are. A fair number of 'relevant' names are not particularly well-known in online adult - they are not personalities, but more than capable of purchasing large segments of this biz. All processors need vetting - it's not an option - they are handling funds of others and need to provide assurances they can operate a business on a solid basis and make provision for client funds in the event of their demise.

We've got to agree with you Webby - offline adult is made up of real business people who know how to do business and you can rely on them. If some of the flakes here in online adult tried their hand and their tricks over there they'd be dead or out of the business in a very short time.

From my point of view, being fairly new on this particular forum.
I have good business training, good instincts, a great support system in mentors and clients.
I was born in S. Philly, raised in Detroit and have been working in Las Vegas for the last 12 years. I saw my first dead body when I was 9, and I grew up in a city riddled with drugs and guns. I have spent the first part of my adult life around people doing dirt, (Driving a Limo, and Bartending) I have spent 10 years whatching people at their dirtiest. I have seen scams, crimes, liars and cheats that most people only see on the news, or hear as "Folk lore".
My point is: The one thing I did not prepare for in this business ( I'm talking about the internet as a whole) is the extreme paranoia of getting ripped off.
I didn't know about that part. That the hardest part, for me.

I though i would be able to do business as usual. Have a good product, be knowlegable of the clients needs, blah, blah..Would I should have been studying is how to get people to trust you in a paraniod world.

In my opinion, it's tearing the little guy in the industry apart, and creating a bigger rift between the have's and the people that work for them, hoping to get a piece of the pie. As long as we keep fighting each other for the crumbs of scraps that are thrown down, the "man" has us by the balls, and keeps the possibility of compitition to a minimum. Just like every other industry.

Thers not enough money in the world to make me fuck someone over. But to a lot of people, $1000 is a lot of money and they'll cut your throat for it.

The big difference here is so many people look at the internet and porn in particular as a "no work", cash cow ,that everybody and their mother wants some.
It's just like living in Vegas. People still keep moving out here with, no skills, and no money or job lined up, because they heard a news story 5 years ago, that said 7500 people a month are moving to Vegas, and finding good jobs.
Well they did, and now it's just like everyother city, if you want something, you have to work for it. And this aint no different.

I have been selling software to porn companies and main stream. This year 100% of the adult companies we did work have paid us, in main stream we are at 90% collection.

In adult if some one does not pay, their is GFY. In main stream they just say 'take me to court' and you just write it off since its not worth spending money on lawyers.

It's all a fantasy and models provide that "food" - they are no different to the average member of the public, - some are bright, some dumb, some talented, let em work without pulling them apart and appreciate they give webmasters a living. (Often for far less money than they can earn in print media)

I honestly think that most webmasters and content start for the same reason. Being to lazy or stupid to get a real job or because they need some fast money. Those people will be in the business for a short period of time.

Two of the biggest scumbags (and the only one's) I ever encountered in decades were in mainstream commerce. One is sitting in a jail cell now and the other due to follow shortly. (Tho both of em are very extreme and destined to spend time behind bars.) On the adult biz... can only say what I see now after having been in this biz long before the net. There was never any decrying of talent. There were (and still are) biz relationships formed that span several decades with folks who kept their end of the bargain - and without bullshit. Several of these people were instigators of the whole concept of selling adult content - and went thru numerous trials to establish this. In the past I'd have done deals on a handshake and everyone would be happy - that is not the case with online adult. There has been an emergence of "facilitators" who were either too ambitous (with an ambition which often does not match their abilities) or were too greedy or, had other agendas. Transaction processors and others fall into that league. Another factor is the ease at which anyone with a computer can commence operating a biz on the net. The usual phrases like.. "Easy money" are an obvious attraction - even to most unqualified and incapable people with no biz accumen. In "offline adult" they would never get off the ground. Bottom line... "offline adult" has changed very little. Online is another issue where vetting is vital - it matters little how high profile the names are. A fair number of 'relevant' names are not particularly well-known in online adult - they are not personalities, but more than capable of purchasing large segments of this biz. All processors need vetting - it's not an option - they are handling funds of others and need to provide assurances they can operate a business on a solid basis and make provision for client funds in the event of their demise. // end of rant __________________ XXX TLD's - Another mosquito to swat.

I have good business training, good instincts, a great support system in mentors and clients. I was born in S. Philly, raised in Detroit and have been working in Las Vegas for the last 12 years. I saw my first dead body when I was 9, and I grew up in a city riddled with drugs and guns. I have spent the first part of my adult life around people doing dirt, (Driving a Limo, and Bartending) I have spent 10 years whatching people at their dirtiest. I have seen scams, crimes, liars and cheats that most people only see on the news, or hear as "Folk lore". My point is: The one thing I did not prepare for in this business ( I'm talking about the internet as a whole) is the extreme paranoia of getting ripped off. I didn't know about that part. That the hardest part, for me. I though i would be able to do business as usual. Have a good product, be knowlegable of the clients needs, blah, blah..Would I should have been studying is how to get people to trust you in a paraniod world. In my opinion, it's tearing the little guy in the industry apart, and creating a bigger rift between the have's and the people that work for them, hoping to get a piece of the pie. As long as we keep fighting each other for the crumbs of scraps that are thrown down, the "man" has us by the balls, and keeps the possibility of compitition to a minimum. Just like every other industry. Thers not enough money in the world to make me fuck someone over. But to a lot of people, $1000 is a lot of money and they'll cut your throat for it. The big difference here is so many people look at the internet and porn in particular as a "no work", cash cow ,that everybody and their mother wants some. It's just like living in Vegas. People still keep moving out here with, no skills, and no money or job lined up, because they heard a news story 5 years ago, that said 7500 people a month are moving to Vegas, and finding good jobs.
