computer help, i cant connect to internet
i just formatted my desktop computer and reintalled windows xp pro and now i cant get the internet to connect (im on laptop). im connected to a linksys cable modem thru ethernet cable.
on my network connections tab, it shows 1394 connection and in properties of that it shows status is connected. i dont know whats wrong, but im not thinking straight right now which is probably half the problem.... help me out, id appreciate it ![]() |

Coming through a router? can you reach 192.168.1.1? or .2 or .0 as the case may be...

yeah thats probably it...
make sure u install the drivers for the nic and/or goto device manager then reinstall them for that specific network adapter... also if u do see the icon for that adapter and it looks like its already there, make sure its not disabled... if its a wireless on a laptop make sure u turned the wifi on... fucking switch fucked me for 3 hours once until i turned on the lights and realized it was OFF.
