lol, look at this fake ass check some guy sent me today... [pic]

I'm selling some Dell laptops online and this guy sends me this big ass check lmao. He says, keep $700 for the laptop, and then please Western Union the rest to my friend in the states. Yea, ok...that isn't a scam...

The funny thing is, he paid $14.40 to express mail me this fake ass check so there must be a lot of gullible people out there falling for this shit...

I love scams! Except for when I fall for them. Which I have. A lot. But everything will be ok soon because this one guy in Nigeria is going to give tons of cash for helping him get his money out of that shitty country!

You should able to cash it no problem, trouble is 3-7 days later when it bounces you've already (if you fell for the scam) sent the majority of the money to fake person B while keeping the small portion for yourself.

Actually yes I have, scammers offer me those bullshit deals every day. This is just the first time one of them actually sent me an actual check even after I told him not to...

Call me dumb, but how can you tell the cheque is fake?

The associated story obviously sounds like a scam, but I just want to know for future reference how to recognize it

they would run the numbers on the check and know instantly it was fake and you would be arrested most likely..

p.s. you can cash 500k checks at a check cash place if you wanted

my fiance sold a car on autotrader and he would get about 2-3 of these type of scams a week. most saying they are a car broker, and another deal fell apart and they would send him a check for 10-15k over the purchase price. then ask him to send the balance back once he cashed it.

most of them in very broken english, they were hilarious

heres what you should do.. tell him you went and cashed the check but instead of 3 grand they accidently gave you 30 grand, then you were arrested, your out on bail , but western union wont let you wire the money so you need him to come in person and take the 30 grand back so he can clear it up with the bank
