small secret man - gallon is 3.8 litter in metric. And you'd never say 35/97th of a gallon, but we can split litter in any part easily. You can't do this with a gallon.

trasfering 220 voltage is more effective a has lesser amount of power lost during the transfer, you need to treasfer less ampers to do the same watt job (as you surelly know Watts power = Voltage * Ampers).

For machinery we use 380Volts.

Thats the reason why most od Europe changed to 220. My country did it in 1970's.

BTW US power outlets are one of the most dangerous and less safe is the whole world, the only system I've that allows user to touch the part under voltage.
