Yes, flip the switch from 110 to 220 besides your power supply and the power cord...

Again, you show how pertinent you are....

That's funny.. Where did the Imperial System come from?

Businesses that export/import goods already have to deal with metric. So in fact in a lot of cases it's probably costing them more money.

Isn't the US military primarily metric? They'd pretty much have to be since all their colition partners are metric.

Yes we should all have the same language too right?

".... do you know what the exact, official U.S. definition of inch, pound and gallon is since 1959? Now listen:

* 1 inch = 25.4 millimeters
* 1 pound = 453.592 37 grams
* 1 gallon = 3.785 411 784 liters

Yes: All the English Imperial units are actually defined by metric units! The English system is just a tumor on the metric system!"

Because it is more logical. If you drive/ride/walk on the left anyone coming toward you is on your right side ie your strong side (given most are right handed) or in days of yore your sword hand was best suited to deal with anyone wishing you harm.

In fact everyone used to 'drive' on the left as far back as the Romans (ie carts. troops etc) but Napoleon imposed the 'right' side as the norm because it was 'revolutionary' (he also imposed the metric system) and was part of his unified Europe dream and dispensing with anything that he considered the 'old ways'.

Yeah, you lead sometimes, then sometimes you are just wrong, and instead of learning and adapting, you stick with it. Way to go :thumbsup

the rest of the world accomodates us completely. The entire world converts their system to ours just for the privilage of selling us their goods. we simply lie back and say, "come back when you can tell me how many ounces that is" and the rest of the world always does.:1orglaugh

some things aren't worth learning or adapting. Not wasting our time with that which is unworthy of our time, is what makes us so profitable. Let someone else waste time learning OUR language, our system of measure, we have other things to learn.:winkwink:

I hate the metric system..I still resort back to imperial as much as I can.It wasn't like Canadians had a choice,we just adapted and had to learn it.If I had a choice I would stick to imperial

small secret man - gallon is 3.8 litter in metric. And you'd never say 35/97th of a gallon, but we can split litter in any part easily. You can't do this with a gallon.

How could it be more effective for small appliances?

trasfering 220 voltage is more effective a has lesser amount of power lost during the transfer, you need to treasfer less ampers to do the same watt job (as you surelly know Watts power = Voltage * Ampers).
And it;s not bigger thread when you get hit by it.
For machinery we use 380Volts.

Thats the reason why most od Europe changed to 220. My country did it in 1970's.

BTW US power outlets are one of the most dangerous and less safe is the whole world, the only system I've that allows user to touch the part under voltage.

takes ages for people to accept the switch, most 50+ y/o in the UK don't understand metric and the road signs are still in miles, and if its hot they use fahrenheit but if its cold they use Celcius.. fucked up..hehe

I can split a gallon down to a half gallon, a quart, a pint, a cup, a tablespoon, or a teaspoon.

The question is, what the fuck would I do with a tsp of gas?

The point being, since you are obviously too ignorant to figure it out, is that while the metric system may use the same terminology (ie: liter) to measure area and liquids, we don't.

You would never buy a square inch of milk.
