Sometimes, everyday here are some pauses on GFY - some 15-30 seconds. This is a server problem or software can not work with so many users ?
Who know it ?

Could be many things....
- Using a php accelerator might help slightly speed things up. Zend, ionCube or even the free eAccelerator for example. - Incase it's webserver load, add more webservers to the load-balanced pool. - Most likely it's the DB load. If tables haven't already been converted to InnoDB, do it. If they are, make sure your my.cnf settings are optimized as much as possible. If you are running the DB on FreeBSD or Linux, try it on a Sun Solaris 10 box - it has benchmarked 60-90% improvements with the same hardware over Redhat. More RAM, better hardware, more slave databases (replication), etc..... There could be tons of suggestions to try that might help.

Where the fuck did that come from? Have you ever looked under the hood of vB? I have and it's not a pretty sight. TD is by far a more than capable admin. It could sure do with some RAM pumped into a SQL cache tho

I dont think it is that simple to just blaim either vbulletin or the server(s).
It is a combination of the hosting setup, the amount of users, the size of databases, amount of visitors etc etc. Although I think gfy should run fine on a cluster kind of setup, just add enough servers till it is stable with a F5 load balancer |
