Dedicated Server Companies Lacking Service

Damn, I was totally taken by surprise when I email I sent to 20 different hosting companies didnt respond back to me after a week. Only 2 companies responded back to me but what about the other 18?

I decided to post on the boards since their lame sales/service team cant find the customer service time to write me back

All I requested in the email was some info on their services, yes I wrote all the big name and little known hosting companies.

Anyway here is my email. Can anyone tell me where I can get this at. So far rackshack are the only guys that offer all of this and for only around 27 cents a gig.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Sales department and server setup,

I am in the market for hosting and I am looking for a great package that meets all of my needs.

I am a web developer looking at host my clients sites on my hosting plan and need a hosting
company that can meet the needs of me and my clients.

What I am looking for is a virtual or dedicated package that will allow me to have at least
300 to 400 gigs of transfer per month and a fairly large amount of space to work with also.
I am looking into the 20 gig range at least on space. I need perl, php, cgi-bin, mail, ssi,
ftp, telnet, mySQL, access to logs and traffic, also .htaccess, frontpage extensions.

I need to have mulitple domains on the server, I know alot of plans offer unlimited domains
on their plans.

I need to be able to let the companies I build these sites for to be able to have their own
indiviual ftp and control panel access so they can upload files when needed to their account,
BUT i do not want them to be able to have access to the other domain accounts on my plan,
only theirs.. I do not know if this can be done, but please let me know.

I need to have 24 hour support to be able to contact you myself.. my customers will contact
me if they have a problem.. if i cannot solve it I would like to be able to contact you
when I can.

I need a cheap price per month. Several companies have offered to waive their setup fee and
have given me a qoute as low as 45 cents per gig. Price is not the biggest factor to me,
I do want all the features I can get to keep my clients happy... but I would like a low
price so that I may profit from them per month.

Each of these companies I design websites for need mail at their domain..
(i.e. [email protected]) I would like to be offer a web based control panel if it is
available also.

Basically in a nutshell, I will be providing webhosting and design to these companies and I
want them to beleive it is me offering the hosting and not another company so that they dont
go elsewhere and me lose profit. If a custom nameserver can be had by me, I would pay for that
also.

Please let me know if you can provide these features and a detailed price I could expect. I
can sign a contract if needed.

Thanks,
Jason Brown

--------------------------------------------------------------

and so far only rackshack and datahosters could write me back.

anyone care to offer me a deal?
email me at

You seem to want an awful lot for nothing.

here is a quote from another post of yours the other day:
"I know NOTHING about Apache or the above server systems. I do know Red Hat is suppost to be good. "

so you basically want to pay a few dollars a month for someone else to run a hosting company for you.

I wouldn't respond to your email if I ran a hosting company.

Not 100% why I wouldn't, your email just makes you sound like a total pain in the ass.

Most of the cheaper hosts won't support all your little needs. When you get a dedicated server, you get a server. That's about it. You are paying for the bandwidth and server rental. You are not paying for them to add stuff, to support anything on the server. They give you IP(s), space, and a subdomain on their servers. You deal with the rest, and you pay for an admin. If you want to pay $4-6 a gig or whatever prepaid, I am sure a place is willing to do all the little things you want.

Jason Brown - what your doing is bullshit.
I'm surprised you even got 2 replies.
You sound like you would be a royal pain in the ass and acting as a middle man between a client & host is just fucking lame.

Look at this quote from your msg:
"Several companies have offered to waive their setup fee and
have given me a qoute as low as 45 cents per gig"

45 cents per GB is a better offer then most would be willing on. So your getting little replies.

Rackshack is good shit, but you need to admin it all yourself, although if you get Ensim or such with it, they have GREAT help files and online help. Pretty simple instructions on how to do whatever you want.

So you basically you want to be a full service host, but you want someone else to do all the gruntwork and charge you what traditionally low service hosts (like Rackshack) charge so you can profit?

hehehe.

also,
you that commented negative about my thread are the ones that will never own a real business in this world.. you get nowhere paying full retail price for shit and reselling it and making no jack.

thats why companies sell shit wholesale in bulk to move it fast and still make profit. If I can get the best service and price I am making a smart business move.

I guess you dont understand since your ass is still visiting THEHUN and trying to see what his secrets are..LOL

FUCK YOU

first of all you came here asking for hosting opinions.

there is no harm asking.
they just are telling you that it's unlikely you will find someone to do it all at that low a cost

do a search on the boards about rackshack before you start calling people fuckwads.

Good Luck

Dude that is a fucking wish list and 400 gigs a month is shit, nobody answered because it is a bullshit request.

Basically you're asking for a virtual account with a ton of admin hours at a dedicated price.

You could have just emailed them: I'm a huge pain in the ass and I don't want to pay full price. Whatcha got?

My people skills with dumbnuts like your kind are to treat you like dumbnuts. Coming on the board saying this is bullshit request and shit... hell cologorup comes close on price and great service I hear too, just trying to see who can offer better.

My people skills far outway yours..dont even make me start on that.

I can name several comapnies that post 45 to 50 cents a gig on their pages, many more post 1 to 2 dollars a gigs... whats the better price i say.. the 50 cents a gig of course. Then I look at service and see who has the cheapest price and the best service and what they allow me to have.

I say this is requesting something that I want for exchange of something the host wants, money.

I know their are alot of host of their looking for clients, i want to see how far they go for it.

Nothing new dumbnuts, this is business.. maybe you should go back to junior college and take the 090 business classes again

True I rather not have to admin my own server since ive never done it, but i never said i wouldnt.
I never once asked for a tech to sit at my server and babysit it...

if you read the email with your eyes open this time you will see i asked if their services offered this....and if this is possible for me to have

Seperate FTP,ssh, 300-400 gigs at least 20 gig space, perl, php, etc. 24 hour support, and a cheap price... what is wrong for asking for a deal may i ask?

I never said "make it be 25 cents, 45 cents, or a dollar a gig.. i mearly mentioned what was offered before hand and see if they offer a cheaper price....

I also said price was not the biggest issue

I dont want to get a host and then not do what i need to be done.

Maybe you should read the email again before you open you mouth and see what I said in it

It never hurts to ask if these service exist, and at what price they come at

Don't try to qualify for idiot of the year here. This award is already given. You mailed 20 companies and you got 2 replies back, then you come here and you call everybody dumbasses. You are lacking basic communication skills. Good luck.....

thats true for various reasons people will give you a break on the advertised price.
especially if you sign a contract with them, which you are willing to do.

most hosting companies have icq contacts. just tell them what you need, you'll be willing to sign a contract for xx months and whats the best price they offer.

then evaluate the choices by service, dependability, and price.
in that order

or dependability, service, and price.

I'm surprised I'm even responding... Well, it's probably because I'm one of the more patient guys here on the boards. Honestly, if I would have gotten your email I would have responded with... "Good Luck!" -LOL

However, if you're serious and this is basically what you want I can provide it in a dedicated solution. But, you'd have to do your own admin so we would install something simple-stupid like Ensim on your server. The last thing I'd ever let my hostmaster do is take care of a million details for someone reselling on an inexpensive dedicated server.

I've got no motivation to be anywhere near the .50/gig range because it's obvious an account like this would have some regular monthly maintenance - I rather like tending the graveyard that hosting usually is.

Here's what you can get:

Robust dedicated server, unlimited IPs. Up to 400 gigs of Tier 1 bandwidth (Verio) measured using average sustained bandwidth on MRTG. Ensim for you to manage your sites, clients and access. $600/month. Want to use less bandwidth? It would be less money. I setup a client on a dedicated with Ensim and 50gigs/mo with similar goals for just $250/month.

If you can't make money reselling very small virtual accounts with a cost of approximately $1.50/gig then your pricing model is fucked up. This is true especially if you are hosting non-adult. Christ, 400 gigs of virtual non-adult usage could be a five hundred sites. LOL We have both adult and non-adult DNS for your different clients so the fact that you're being hosted with 3000 adult sites isn't obvious.

Anyways... Despite the fact that the email you sent out was a little off, it's still a legitimate request when you take out the price expectation of .50/gig. So, if you're sincerely interested and you want something better then rackshack give me a call or send an ICQ.

That's it... it's late.. err, early here. Perhaps if I was more awake I would have moved on!

Cheers,

Brad

I don't understand why a client would use you (a middle man) when they could go straight to the host.
How can you give them better rates & service?

jmb1881 - your an idiot with an unrealistic plan.
I'm surprised hosts ignored your e-mail then when should have replied and asked you to suck their balls.
I suggest you keep your job at BurgerKing a little longer, just in case your internet venture doesn't make the $$$ you were hoping for.

Gee, I thought "Go Fuck Yourself" would be a serious business board, exclusively populated with mature adults who offer nothing but sincere, insightful, useful, polite, and honest responces and show the utmost respect for everyone...

Um, no... This board has it's uses, but if you are looking for a polite, respectful experience, maybe you shouldn't start at a board entitled "Go Fuck Yourself" or maybe you should do just that.

"I wouldn't respond to your email if I ran a hosting company."

... buachahahaha , I wouldn´t either.

"And for your info I did read the hosting plans you sack of shit, not all companies can list every single plan they can configure."

... and the ones the didn´t reply have my deepest respect.

I'm surprised hosts ignored your e-mail then when should have replied and asked you to suck their balls.
I suggest you keep your job at BurgerKing a little longer, just in case your internet venture doesn't make the $$$ you were hoping for.
I don't agree with half the stuff you say, but this post made me laugh pretty hard!

Thanks,
Jason Brown

--------------------------------------------------------------

and so far only rackshack and datahosters could write me back.

anyone care to offer me a deal?
email me at
[email protected]

NEVER HOST WITH ABAC.COM - You will see what a bad customer service is all about, they are big SCAMS!!

A lot hosting co. read this board and hosting offers go and come all the time when someone posts such a topic. Everybody posts an offer trying to get the business of the potential client. Go back at the top of this thread and look how many offers you got....

Deal of the year? The possible things: either you'll become a pain in the ass of the hosting co. and soon will kick you or they're going to scam you which i think you really deserve.

Call up the CTO of Geocities. No, make it the CFO... No, no, call up the CEO. Go right to the top. ICQ him. Shoot him an email. Track him down and knock on his door. Hide under his car in the parking lot. Anything, as long as you get a response. Do it now!

He'll set you up with everything. He'll say:

"This place has everything. Come on, I show you."

I promise.

Everything will be OK.
