The Truth About the Bombing:
http://cbc.ca/stories/2002/06/28/bombing_report020628
The fact is the public may never know the whole truth and nothing but the truth about this bombing incident. Having spent more than thirty years in the US Army, I am more than aware, that our military has, on more than one occassion, thrown our personal to the wolves. Usually this is done to polictically appease, but is sometimes done, to cover the asses of superior officers, in the chain of command. Soldiers usually do not disobey orders, particularly those that are as well trained as our pilots are. I for one would like to see what rules of engagement they were provided, and what operational briefing they were provided, before their flight (official and unofficial). In addition I would like to see a transcript of the audio between their controller and themselves. I personally think there is little chance that they knowingly disobeyed orders, but of course the small possibility does exist that they were cowboys and acted outside of the box. |

as a canadian I say it was just friendly fire, and in War this shit happens all the time.
I've heard that in WW2 more than 1 in 10 were killed from it, the numbers dropped as technology got better but it ALWAYS happens in war.

Friendly fire happens when you mistake your own forces (or any ally) as any enemy. Or you get the position mixed up and drop bombs in the wrong spot.
Its a bad mistake to make but it does happen. This case is somewhat different because the pilot was told twice not to fire but he did anyways & disobyed orders. Rightly so he will be punished. Both the Canadian & American investigation found the pilot is responsible. If he was given permission to fire then it would be a different case - what we have a fucking cowboy or rogue pilot & he will be punished. |

I saw shit when I was in the Army that would make your hair stand on end..... And Pathfinder was in a lot longer than me and am sure A WHOLE LOT higher rank.. Fuck I use to do some pretty bad stuff all by my lone some, and still made E-5 in an Airbone unit... which is called a srtick unit. I should have spent time in jail.. more than once.. The Sgt. Major and 2 or 3 first Sgt.s like me.... Did a few thing's for them.... When I went before the board for E-5 I got ask one question... by a first Sgt.. that didn't know me.... And the Sgt. Major told him I didn't have to know that... What am saying is yes they cover there ass's big time.... Upper ranks... And do throw people to the dogs...... Just like life on the outside.... There are more atrocious events occurring worldwide.
This event just happens to be something the media can make the most $$$ on. It is very sad, but they only show us what they want us to see. |

2 handy little phrases i live by: Common sense isn't. & Friendly fire isn't. For a long time i wanted to be in the military, and i'm pretty much a pacifist. However, my eyes are way too bad to get in. I don't know how i would react, if i were a commander, and was given an order to do what you've stated above. I just don't know....t |
