Friendly fire happens when you mistake your own forces (or any ally) as any enemy. Or you get the position mixed up and drop bombs in the wrong spot.
Its a bad mistake to make but it does happen.
This case is somewhat different because the pilot was told twice not to fire but he did anyways & disobyed orders.
Rightly so he will be punished.
Both the Canadian & American investigation found the pilot is responsible.
If he was given permission to fire then it would be a different case - what we have a fucking cowboy or rogue pilot & he will be punished.
