Mark Cuban
Ok so he made 1.3billion from selling some online radio thing to Yahoo?
I never really heard what he did that made so much money what is it that he had that yahoo wanted so bad, and why was it worth so much money? Did he work his ass off and know many things others didn't like Bill Gates or was he someone that just timed things and got lucky and the $1.3billion thing Yahoo bought is it worth $50k today? I never heard the story of what his asset was he sold? |

It was something with which you could listen to sports games online. I don't really remember. But he seems to be a great guy. His blog is also good.

he got super lucky sold at the top to yahoo and then sold all yahoo stock at the top. Boradcast.com ended up being worthless to yahoo they threw away a billion bucks, just like blue mountain arts and alta vista and AOL time warner as well as many otehr really fucking stupid deals that got done ihn the dot com. we are seeing it again with facebook value at 1 billion totally worthless $100 a user 10X what myspace was bought for. Yahoo is pretty dumb sometimes. I think thats why google kicked their ass, they do stupid shit.

With no computing skills he started micro solutions back in the 80's. Sold it to Compuserve a decade or so latter for millions.
He then retired. Being bored and talking shit with friends about wanting to hear hoosiers games on the radio he thought why not broadcast radio and tv on the internet. Walla broadcast.com was born. One could listen to sports and other shit online. He took the company public, it went nuts like all internet IPO's did. Yahoo bought it for 1.5 to 2 billion in 99. Bought a lot of shit and also the Maverics for a little more than a quarter billion. Started HDnet, high definition shit... and well so forth.
