Illegal immigrants are everywhere - not just in the US. I've done the same and in the process learned some background from a couple of them. The risks and *severe* hardship some of these folks go thru to earn a basic living is unbelievable. It's kinda criminal any human being should have to do that.

The water is a fetid desert lake. One look at it would tell you not to drink it, even if you were illiterate and unable to read the signs posted in english and spanish.

It's because of the water quality (or lack of) that makes it such a good place to fish as it is catch-and-release, allowing the bass and sunfish to grow large and populate. People go there because we don't have many options in this area and it's not as bad as I may have led you to think by describing it as "fetid".
