Prostitution is a victimless crime, it will take another 20 years for people to get their head out of their ass & realize it. But it will eventually be legalized in all 50 states.

You all don't get it.. Here is a guy who has a Member only Adult Website like so many Escort sites on the net.

However some of these Escorts were caught by an undercover sting operation and found to be prostitutes. So guess what,, they arrested the website owner..

Now think about this. I have partner programs with him which are now frozen assets. I also have members only Escort sites. Where just like at bigdoggie, guys or gals can subscripe to get a phone number etc.. Where does that leave US? Escort Members Webmasters?

Are we next on the hitlist for the local Police Department?

Are you? Maybe your members do something wrong! Maybe your model smokes pot and gets busted! Will you go to jail? Why should we be responsible for our Members wrong-doing!

He will probably beat this, however for now Charlie is in Jail on 195k bail. His assets are owned by the IRS and his PC and servers are in some police station. He had his own affiliate program which made me about 800 bucks per month. So I reckon we won't see that either.

Maybe they arrest us Partners next because we also gained money on his website!!!!!!!!

Interesting case going on there. This is from the article:

The Vice Section of the Hillsborough County Sheriff?s Office started it?s own escort service web page, thereby joining the subject Web Site. Within a few hours of joining the web page, the undercover web page had thousands of ?hits? and hundreds of subsequent offers for ?dates? from members of the Web Site.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff?s Office subsequently set up ?dates? with some of those members and arrested six subjects for soliciting prostitution within two working days. The Hillsborough County Sheriff?s Office took in a total of $2,200 from those subjects as ?escort fees?.

I think this guy has some strong free speech claims if it turns out that he wasn't personally involved in prostitution in any way. You shouldn't be able to arrest a person for talking about or providing information on illegal activities. In that case, all sites with drug info would be illegal, many newspaper articles would be illegal, etc.

However, we are living in a country with many leaders who are very strongly under the influence of religious fanatics. I would not be surprised if the government started making more arrests where people are simply providing information about illegal acts. John Ashooooo and Bush are no friends of free speech, and the attitude at the top tends to have some influence on what all levels of law enforcement are willing to try to prosecute.

If this guy is involved with prostitution personally, then he's really fucked.

I just read the new article you posted.

The fact that we was taking money from prostitutes (for advertising) and then sending them clients, makes me think they might have a strong case against him after all.

If the police can prove that he knew they were prostitutes, and he took their money, in return for sending them johns, then how is that different from a street pimp?

If he was doing it for free, then I don't think they would have a case. The fact that he may be making money directly off of prostitution makes it less clear.

This is all about what a jury will think.

It's an interesting case. I'll have to read up more on this one before I'm sure what I think. Thanks for the links.

I can pick up a local newspaper almost anywhere and I'm sure that there will be an "adult services" section. Its always full of escort advertising. How is that different than what this guy was doing?

That's where it becomes confusing. If you use the Napster theory, then his site was, like Napster, according to police more for illegal than legal activity. Did his main income come from prostitutes? Did he know that they were prostitutes? Does a newspaper know they are prostitutes? I don't have any idea.

However, like you say, what major newspaper doesn't have ads for massage or escorts or something that would eventually lead to prostitution?

Again, a very interesting case. His guilt or innocence in court will likely have a lot to do with how much money he is willing to spend on defending himself and getting the best lawyers.

I know Charlie didn't set up Prostitutes and Johns. He just provided a service like I do. We have Members Only Escorts sites and being and Escort is NOT against the law. However getting financial gain for sex is.

They sat up a sting operation and caught a few Escorts doing more than lapdancing etc. So they nailed the Paysite Owner claiming he catered to Prostitutes and Johns.

Again I believe he can beat the case. It is NOT my responsibility to watch out over my members. If they end up with some girl who advertises on one of my Escorts sites and they have sex somewhere its NOT my doing!

How about Adult Friend Finder. You pay for an ad, you pay to find a date, you have sex with that date! Thats prostitution and the webmaster of Adult Friend Finder should go to jail for pandering. Which is a felony and carries 5 years.

His website offered a service!
He offered reviews and message boards for Escorts and Men who use escorts for dinner dates etc etc.
I have the same websites!
Does that make me a pimp? Maybe now with Bigdoggie in jail I need to watch out that tomorrow I won't be in jail for pandering myself.

In theory, that could apply to sites that sell ads to anyone who is doing anything that's illegal in the U.S. Are they trying to say that they can prosecute you for the actions of your sponsors? Does that apply to newspapers and magazines too?

What about things that are legal or illegal by locality, like obscenity?

I would think at least Pathfinder would have an opinon.
