USA or Mexico????
So it comes down to USA vs. Mexico. Who do you think will crush who??? I remember I went to a world cup qualifying game back in 1996, Mexico and USA had a tie, they both played good.

USA had some early luck, but they got thrashed by Poland last game.
Anyway I think they will likely lose! |

I love my country and I don't want to live anywhere else. Middle and upper class live quite well in Mexico, just as in any other first world country. So trying to put us down is not going to work |

Thanks Sjayne, I wish good luck to your team. And how's everything in England.. are you getting used to the soccermania?
And for those putting down the US.. hmm, it's not a bad team. It used to be, but they have gotten better over the last few years. They were the first team of the Concacaf to qualify to the World Cup. They finished first in their group. It won't take many years before they earn the respect of soccer fans all around the world. |

Your welcome Gaby...I was really impressed with them in their last match. I told my husband few weeks ago that I had a niggling feeling about Mexico. I would love to see Mexico Vs Brazil..if that didn't involve Brazil beating England ..which is does
I'm pretty used to soccermania because in England it is never far away. It is pretty much the lifeblood of the country. I have some other American friends who have moved to the UK and they make a point of not trying to understand soccer. Big mistake..you can't be a part of this society if you can't atleast identify players. We have the commonwealth games and Wimbeldon starting in the next few weeks. If I didn't like sports this would be a very hard time to live in the UK.

Sjayne, we were impressed too. It's nice to see them play to their level and giving their best effort. In the past couple of years the players were fighting for a better salary, and better medical insurance, so they didn't play their best, losing games in purpose... they put a lot of pressure on the Federation until they got what they wanted.. that's when they raised their level and won the remaining games that got them into the World Cup.
The draw wasn't easy, they had to play Italy and Croatia (third place in the last World Cup). To be honest with you, I didn't think they would make it to the second round.. I'm glad they proved many people wrong Brazil will play England? England is playing more impressive than the South Americans. I'll put my money on your adopted country You mention tennis.. are you a tennis fan? I spent my last summer vacation in europe, and was in London during the first week of Wimbledon.. I wanted to attend it sooo bad, even when I didn't have tickets and time for it. The tickets are almost impossible to get! ..I've heard of people sleeping on the sidewalk just to buy tickets the following day. Tickets for the US Open are easier to get. Some call it the british Super Bowl.. lol |

The Mexico vs. USA game will be this Monday, at 1:30 AM Central Time.. I wonder if Coffee sales will increase during the World Cup.

Wimbeldon is mad for getting a ticket. Those people camp out every year, especially if there is a British player that day. I have been told that the best way to get in is to get a 'return' ticket. That is when people that have corporate tickets or whatever leave early in the day and hand their tickets back in. Then you can pick that ticket up at the court for something like £10. Or camp out..lol

The game is on right now, interesting how it will turn out. Mexico will probably win, but this world cup is very unpredictable, so anything is possible.

Yep. Congratulations USA, I hope you'll beat Germany and move forward in the draw, you deserve it
I'm sad that Mexico didn't play better, and quite embarrased that they played like animals in the last quarter.. I guess the frustration was too much for them. See you again in 4 years (hopefully) |
