Any truth to this? credit card question

I have heard that credit card companies only allow each person like 2 chargebacks per year. Is this true or just BS?

BS..... mabey if they suspect you of playing the cb game, they might limit or close your account, but if you have valid cb's they won't do much...

Not really. If it is a fraudulent charge, the CC company is going to protect the consumer 9 out of 10 times. However, if a consumer has a history of chargebacks that seems suspicious, and the companies have disputed his chargebacks, they are less likely to get the lenient treatment in the future.

thanks... so what exactly happens if someone is excessive in charging back? For example: They have a pattern of making claims that they received items/service not as described or claim fraud even with positive avs and cvv2 etc.

Don't know at all about that..

But another thing I've heard is that chargebacks are only allowed for amounts above $20...
Which makes me think $10-sites etc. must really looove being chargeback-safe. ;)

Anyone here able to confirm that hearsay?

Like many have said, if the bank notices a habit of frequent chargebacks, they'll eventually say enough is enough.

As for amounts under $20, many banks will simply write off the amount and credit to the customer rather than going through with the chargeback. Typically, it costs a bank a lot more than $20 to file a chargeback.

Keep in mind that it's at the bank's discretion, so some banks will chargeback, and those that typically don't sometimes will.

That's not correct. The fees are two ways. Mechants only get charged half the fees. Keep in mind there are typically two banks involved in the process. The customer's issuing bank has fees as well as the merchant's bank.

I used to work for Visa, FYI.

so whats the real answer? If someone is excessive in charging back and it is known to the issuer.

The policy varies from one bank to another.
