In '56 it was the British and French with Israel.

In the 6 Days War Israeli pilots flew in French Mirage planes.

Today, Israel makes their own tanks. They modify F15s to their own standards. Their pilots are the best trained in the world. It really hasn't mattered who supplied Israel with weapons. The vast difference between Israel's planning and the tactics and strategy of its autocratic neighbors has made all the difference in the world.

Iran is on very thin ice as is, they aren't going to jump into a war when they have a puppet with nothing to lose (Hezbollah) willing to fight instead. And Syria... they aren't much of a match up. USA should have equipped Israel with nuclear weapons and delivery rockets capable to reach Iran, which is hopefully the next step in a few years.
