"The Art of war", definitely is a kick ass book. Any suggestions for the next read? Need a book that I can apply to life. I am thinking "The Prince."

Im thoroughly enjoying a great translation of The Iliad right now, and although you cant apply it to life (unless you are about to invade Turkey), its wonderful to read the classical style its composed in.

My next one is likely to be Virgil's The Aeneid.

Books are one of the biggest threats to humanity; only cats and hypocrites pose more of threat to our very existence as a species. If it doesn?t come on TV, or if you can?t watch a movie of it, then it just isn?t worth the risk of reading a book. Books pose far too much harm to human life; only a fool would risk his or her life by reading one. I do have to admit though I used to read books quite a bit when I was younger, especially the Bible. Although I can?t advocate reading books anymore, The Bible is one of the greatest books ever written, so much sex and violence that you can stay hard for hours on end, jerking off to story after story. Maybe I would have a different view on my books if my anal virginity had not been robbed from me by a copy of Jules Verne?s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea though. After that incident happened, I realized the horrors that all books represent, especially hardbacks. ALL books have the potential to rape and kill you, but be especially wary of hardbacks.

Try something by Charles Bukowski if you want stories you can apply to life...

Reading is a good escape for that. One summer I read all the Utopia / Dystopia novels I could get my hands on...for me it was interesting that even in literature someone couldn't come up with a "perfect" society in my eyes...even the authors of the books couldn't completely create perfection. A short list:

Anthem - Ayn Rand
Erewhon - Samuel Butler
Utopia - Thomas Moore
Fahrenheit 451 - Bradbury
The Republic - Plato
...then a bunch of books you probably read in highschool, Brave New World, 1984, Animal Farm, etc.

It's just interesting to see what people think is the Utopia / Dystopia type society.

Noam Chomsky on Anarchism.

Agree with him or not, but you don't really understand the world until you at least understand Chomsky's outlook. Any good Chomsky book makes a great read. If you're interested in the media/propaganda check out Necessary Illusions. If you're interested in US foreign policy check out Hegemony or Survival. Chomsky is the only important intellectual/author of our time. He's the only one who will be taught 50-100 years from now.

If you're looking for for entertainment, I recommend a good book of Bukowski's short stories. Tales of Ordinary Madness and The Most Beautiful Women in Town are my favorites by him.

Go for the 7 habits if you can only pick one!

People really read those "success" books?
