Do Hospitals & Doctors Really Give A Fuck???

After years and years of listening to and reading about people who've had medical nightmares and how the system and doctors just don't give a fuck I'm starting to see some of this first hand.

I can't believe the level of incompetence and callousness I've witnessed. It's about money, money, money and fuck all treating or curing people. Even in the big league legislature! It's like our lawmakers are more concerned with making friends with big business instead of just making people's lives better.

I know there are some awesome medical professionals out here but they're swallowed up by some of the most nasty attitude people I've ever seen! And what's with these medications they're giving people? They're worse than the diseases themselves!

I've been told over and over again that doctors don't cure they treat symptoms. When was the last major cure for something? Was it Polio? Wasn't that like back in the 1930's?

Gee, I wonder if one day we all learn how to heal people by laying on of hands or some such miraculous thing will doctors run for the hills?

Do any of you have hospital nightmare stories or scary medical bill stories?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we hear that all the time. The difference being they're NOT the USA. Yet you go to smaller countries and the health care is paid for. Here if you don't have it you are FFFFFUCKED.

Meanwhile guys like Ken Lay from Enron can rip off billions and put millions in a position where they don't have health care and they DIE. Or we tax the rich to death to pay for the poor's health care.

What use is being the best at something if no one can afford you? If you're so expensive and elusive yet required by law to treat people and you go broke doing it.

We're smarter than this but we're not compassionate enough to solve the problem. We can put men on the Moon but can't figure out how to efficiently heal one another.

That's what's wrong with this planet. Civilizations and countries rise and fall but our asses, the people, the families are still-fucking-here.

Just look at your families and how far back they go. I'll bet they've been in the same areas on Earth as they've been for thousands if not more thousands of years but the surrounding politics and royalty hasn't.

Families are the power on Earth. Mark my words.

The money isnt in the cure... its in the long term treatments and vaccines to a mass market. Thats why when the drug companies patent runs out theres always something new and improved off their old drug... i.e. The "purple pill" was once prilosec.. now its nexium. Ambiem now is pushed aside to AbmiemCR... Etc. Keep the patients on the expensive stuff instead of expired patents which bring cheaper generics. Its a fucked system.

The doctor patient relationship has become like an assembly line. There is no intimacy and that ever widening gap makes it hard for a doctor to care about their parients. Back when doctors used to make house calls, things were different.

These days doctors try to see as many patients a day as possible. They schedule 15 or 20 an hour and barely recognize you at your follow up.

Most do not even feel the need to look into symptoms you describe. You are seriously worried about something, they can't get you out of the room fast enough.

It's really sad Hypocondriacs and insurance frauders didn't help the doctor/patient relationship over the years either.

Like everything else in this world, it all comes down to money.

There will never be a cure for cancer, diabetes, etc as long as it remains more profitable to just treat symptoms.

I'd like to see some other countries that view us in angst to come up with the cure for AIDS or cancer to piss off our government, instead of building and launching nukes.

This is a list of meds they had my father on at the peak of his sickness:

Teveten HCT
Glimepiride
Labetalol
Torsemide
Cilostazol
Fortamet
Levothyroxin
Fast Acting Insulin 3x a day
Slow Acting Insulin 1x a day
Magenesium Chloride
Centrum Silver
Omega-3 Fish Oil
Aspirin

+ a few other ones I can't remember atm. All of those had multiple dosages a day except one or two... which really can't be all that great for your body. So much money everytime you pop all of those pills that probably didn't do horseshit anyways

My father died from being over medicated. At one point they gave him a week's worth of demorol in one dose. Within 18 months all of his vital organs shut down one by one. It all started from a slipped disk in his back. The hospital coincidentally lost the records and all they got was a fine.

Fucking AAAAA!

You should listen to Alex Jones and Jeff Rense especially. The one thing about Jeff Rense that cannot be denied is that his medical education/news is at a minimum 10 years ahead of everyone elses. What you're saying is what Rense had on his website way back in '94!

We complain about illegal drugs but look at the legal shit? The legal shit kills THOUSANDS more than the illegal shit!

I am in Canada and we are experiencing the same things here....funny how the european medical staff waits around for patience, they pay a little more and never get put on a waiting list of feel they are part an assembly line

This happened in 1992, when I was 12. We did have an attorney involved, but he wasn't too aggressive, so we ended up running out of time. Too many politics

He was so doped up on medicine that when he was getting his worker's comp settlement, he opted for $600 a month instead of a $400k lump sum. Then he died a week before ever getting a penny from it. If he had chosen the lump sum, my mom would have gotten the settlement.

If we only knew then, what we know now. Sigh...

It's all about money. I've only had one really great doctor, he was a little old guy that was from Italy and an amazing doctor...I really felt bad when he retired because I haven't found a good caring doctor since.

I've known my doctor since we were in HS together. He cares about me Hospitals are OK. I know when I had my blood transfusions they had "floating" nurses from different hospitals that came there and worked when they needed them. However, they would only allow actual employees of the hospital (and there had to be 2) to give the transfusions. Usually the squeaky wheel gets oiled if you have an issue with the hospital.

My mom's a midwife and she's great. She works in Alabama where she drives to the hospital there, works 60 hour shifts (not straight since she only needs to be there when the baby's coming out) and makes an absurd amount of money.

BTW, I've been taking medical coding classes for the last year. It's one of the "booming" businesses because insurance rules the medical practice and if you don't code what happened at the office correctly, you don't get paid. And Medicare is the largest insurer in the US so you have to keep the government happy.

I am happy to say that I have a great family physician, he sees me and about 6 other family members.

He's about 32 years old, he moved here from Columbia, has good style and taste in clothes, and is really a good caring person. He's even prescribed me anxiety meds without seeing me for a doctors visit, I just call him and tell him whats wrong and he asks how he can help me out, and gives me some options.

I just saw him today for my knee.. Trying to convince him he should take 2 days off from his practice to come party in Las Vegas.

they aren't any worse than any other person you might hire, do you think a lawyer gives a fuck if you go to jail or not? Or that guy you just hired to paint a house, do you think he "cares"? 90% of the people don't care, they all just want to do their job, get paid and move on...

I have a fantastic doctor who does not do the stupid shit nor prescribe the latest bribery medicine. Then if I must get something that is new or whatever since it is not available as a generic and other shit wont work he loads me up on enough "samples" to get me through treatment.
He listens to me and knows I know my body and case as well if not better than anyone else. We will exchange ideas and possible treatments before we decide on any if they are needed.
He also keeps me out of the hospitals unless absolutely necessary and then he gets me out of them as quick as possible and on home treatment, as we both agree they kill people or make them worse.
He has no issues with telling me to buy some over the counter stuff or whatever over some prescription items.
We also actually talk during the visits, everything from politics to drug laws.

I have been with him now for twenty one years. Recently had a scare though when he was reported to be semi retired. Actually he was sick and had throat cancer. Thankfully he came back even during his treatment phase and damn I was happy to see him. During his off time I did not go and see a replacement doctor.

Only on a personal thing, but know who people, husband and wife who were major sales "players" for a large pharma corp. The wife was a doctor, husband more sales orientated.

They both sacked themselves when the wife (doc) raised some issues over the drugs they were selling. The pharma corp refused to give clear answers on this - so they both resigned. In their language, - they "refuse to lie to doctors where there is a possible serious health hazzard". (Can't remember the detail, but the main element was serious, tho there were plenty other sub-issues.)
