Its over the counter.....better than the prescribtion crap and not addictive...its the only thing i take now... my doc gave me Restoril he wont give me ambien cause of the people sleep walking n shit...

Melatonin gives me migraines. Ambien only kept me asleep for a few hours, but the Ambien CR does well as does Lunesta. Restoril did OK but is supposedly addictive?

A friend of mine once had problems sleeping. He'd go a couple days and not even be sleepy. It wasn't that he was sleepy but couldn't manage to fall asleep. His doctor said "If you're not sleepy, don't go to sleep".

I told him to get a new doctor. Instead, he took the doctors advice and worked 3 jobs.... for a few months anyway.

i do what that doc says , if i can't fall asleep within 20mins of going to bed then i aint tired , i get up do a few things , try again an hour or so later
meds and shit are just placebo's

i use it only to prevent jet lag when traveling. never at home.

Juicy, Melatonin is a hormone produced by the Pineal Gland. Melatonin is actually released when the retinal stimulation to light is decreased ( ie as it gets darker). People in areas of the world where there is little or no nightime ie top of Alaska, suffer severly from lack of Melatonin release. In Males during a climax the hormone Oxytocin ( and not bloody melatonin) is released in quantities up to 5 times that of normal oxytocin release. This then cuases sleep and once circadian rythyms are happening Melatonin is then released.

I agree with Juicy, Melatonin is a lifesaver. I've always been one that could fall asleep within minutes and could stay asleep for 8-10 hours. I had a period of 1-2 months recently when this wasn't the case. I tried Melatonin for a week and the problem was solved. I'm back to my normal sleeping routine now.
