Are you a sun addict? Or do you sun block yourself?

I have always been a sun addict. I grew up in the South and I love the heat, the sun, etc.

I always get pretty dark in the summertime so I rarely use any sun-block; although I do use sun tan lotions with a mild degree of protection many times.

I was reading an article that said no matter how dark you are, you should always wear full sun block (rain or shine).

Seemed like overkill....

I grew up in the sun, I suppose one day I may well have issues. Who knows?

I hate the sun, hense why I love living in england. Ive grown up with bad weather, but instead of hating it i love it.

Sun makes me slow, inactive and sweaty.

sorry to put a downer on the thread.

But id quite like to move to a mountain with sun, but a cold tempreture and snow.

I don't know man.... I'm Mexican so brown but kinda light. Never really used the stuff. Growing up in NorCal in 90+ most of the summer I never really used the stuff and I'd get pretty dark. Now, down here in SD, It's rarely hot enough to campare to that but I'll put it on here and there just to follow the crowd I guess and because of the scary commercials.

of course, I don't get as much sun as I used to.
Always end up with a golfers tan.

I just grew up in it similar to Bob. Sometimes I wonder if I did damage. I grew up in the days whereas if you were predominately dark, you didn't need sun-block.

Now arguments are trying to state the contrary.

Who knows.

I have the webmaster tan, you know the kind that if we're in the sun more than 5 minutes we'll spontaneously combust.

I used to worship the sun and the only time I would use sunblock is if I had already overdone it and had a burn. At 41 I can honestly say that I am seeing the effects of what I did to my skin for many, many years. I wish I could go back in time and treat my skin better.

This is exactly what worries me. I am considering just wearing sun-block all the time.

I am like you, always in the sun...

We grew up on the water - either at the lake, beach, river, or pool. Whatever damage I've done to my skin is already done, no sense in worrying about it now.

My grandfather had skin cancer on his face from spending so much time on the water growing up. He probably hadn't been out in the sun for more than 40 years when he got it, so I think whatever you absorb growing up is what gets you. So....I'll continue to fry myself out at the pool, lake and beach

I'm Irish, live in Vegas and I am rarely in the sun. You'd better believe I use block when I am.

I played tennis 4 hours a day for 18 years... I did quite a bit of damage. I see guys who continued on coaching and playing on the tour, and by 30, they look like their skin is about 55.

Even if you don't want to wear total sunblock I would think that wearing some type of lotion with a good SPF would be better than nothing. Keeping your skin from burning is very important.

I love the sun, I dont mind mowing the lawn shirtless while drinking beer during sunny days. Its part of the summer experience.

Cory try using butter, it soothes, smells good, and when it mixes with your salty sweat it tastes like popcorn.

Interesting to see how much the incidence of skin cancer hes risen since the introduction of sun block.

Read what is in that shit and ask yourself if it or the sun is bad for you. (toxic waste)

I only use sunblock when I'm in the middle east. Contrary to popular belief, the people over there are nice so you don't have to worry about them, but It seems like the sun WILL KILL YOU instead of guns.

As grown up in the sun as u might be Cory, you might cosinder it a lifesaver if you come downunder to the australian heat, we have areas where the Ozone layer has holes in it here and when u couple it with 120 Faranheit temperatures noone is safe

I always use spf everytime i leave the house, even when it's cloudy or rains in order to protect my skin from aging and potential wrinkles in the future. I am very anal about looking as young as I can for as long as I can.

Of course I like to look tan but not actually BE tan so I always use self-tanner cream every single day, all over my face and body so I can look like I have more colour. I also like to use the self tanners with instant bronzer so it makes me look a bit darker right away.

And I always wear powder bronzer (MAC) so I can "look" more tan.

I don't get tan from the sun but from self-tanners and bronzers.

Nothing will age you faster than the sun. I look 10 years younger than I am because I stay out of the sun. The sun will kill young elastic skin and age you faster. If you want to minimize any wrinkles as much as possible you have to stay out of the sun. Either that or get a face lift once it hits you.

The sun increases aging and wrinkles. Wrinkles = VERY BAD.

I really enjoy getting sun, but I tan quick naturally (I don't burn thought) so I try to avoid too much sun. Tanning is nice but beeing almost black when you're white looks stupid.

Kathi from NatNet and I were talking about this since we are of the same generation:

Putting iodine in baby oil was ALWAYS a way to turn darker faster when we were growing up. You did what you could to cook the heck out of yourself. Geeze, I even remember a woman who used actual Crisco.

Though in hindsight, with all those oils, it might have actually been good for the skin
