Uruguay is the tax-free zone, isnt it? I have a friend over there, he lives in Buenos Aires. He knows me well and says thats where I should go if I decide to come. He dosent have any details about the area other than its remote. I am specifically intrested in the real estate market there.

I moved to Argentina from the US about 2 years ago. If you can get paid in the US, like we do from the sponsors, and live in Argentina, you can live very well for very little money.

I haven't bought any property here yet, but probably will within the next year or two.

Buenos Aires is great. Very friendly people, lots of people that speak at least some english, and always something going on somewhere in the city.

Yeah, thats what I have gathered. Hotels I would have to pay $300 a night to book here go for $100 a night there, and I hear everything is just about 1/3rd of the prices here. What have you done for living quarters since you moved, just rented or something?

Cool, thanks alot. Bookmarked that baby. Lots of information there to digest later on. Thankfully, my friend over there worked for the migration department so he has already set me up with all the immigration information. But there is alot of cool info on there, should be a good read.

Yes, for now just renting. But the apartment we have, in the neighborhood where it is, would easily be $2k-$3k per month in a place like NY or Miami. Here it's about $600US.

Moneywise, you're right. It's about 1/3 the price. The dollar converts to about 3 Argentine pesos and some change, right now. It fluctuates between like 2.80 and 3.20. When you're in the stores, the numbers on the pricetags are about the same you'd see in the US, but of course it's pesos. So what you get for $100US there, you get for about $100Arg here, then you still have $60 us left.

The only thing that costs about the same is electronics, since like the US, a lot of it is imported from Japan and China. But food and living expenses and stuff is insanely cheap when you're used to US prices.

Yeah, my friend told me no bargains on electronic stuff. Is your place typical of the rent I'd expect to pay there, or did you just luck out and get a good deal?

Wow! Only $600 for a 4BR? Thats insane. Cant get a nice place here for that, much less a 4BR. I rented a house in Columbus, OH - 2 BR, 1 Car Garage, Shitty Landlord and small yard for $810 a month.

I havent found any real estate listed online. Either I am not using the right keywords or they dont list thier stuff online like they do here in the states. I am not looking for buildings persay, I'd be quite happy with a nice chunck of land out in the middle of nowhere that I can build on.

When I relocated from Canada about a year ago I was seriously thinking about going to either Uruguay or Argentina. A very good friend of mine grew up in Uruguay and says it's a good place to be. So is Argentina according to him. Both are relatively safe, cheap and fun. I ended up in Hungary where I was born, but hopefully within a year I'll be able to move again and this time it'll be either Uruguay or Argintina for sure.

I've heard you can get great deals on real estate in Agentina right now.

I had been considering doing photoshoots in Brazil but after eliminating it because of rampant crime and corruption I had a quick look at Buenos Aires. Nice in most aspects except not the greatest for locations and not so picturesque (at least compared to Rio). From what I can tell it's situated on a river mouth that's dirt brown and ugly all the time. Am I right or wrong?
