I moved to Argentina from the US about 2 years ago. If you can get paid in the US, like we do from the sponsors, and live in Argentina, you can live very well for very little money.
I haven't bought any property here yet, but probably will within the next year or two. Buenos Aires is great. Very friendly people, lots of people that speak at least some english, and always something going on somewhere in the city. |
You can check out my friends blog, they relocated a couple of months ago she is american and he is french.

Moneywise, you're right. It's about 1/3 the price. The dollar converts to about 3 Argentine pesos and some change, right now. It fluctuates between like 2.80 and 3.20. When you're in the stores, the numbers on the pricetags are about the same you'd see in the US, but of course it's pesos. So what you get for $100US there, you get for about $100Arg here, then you still have $60 us left. :) The only thing that costs about the same is electronics, since like the US, a lot of it is imported from Japan and China. But food and living expenses and stuff is insanely cheap when you're used to US prices. |

When I relocated from Canada about a year ago I was seriously thinking about going to either Uruguay or Argentina. A very good friend of mine grew up in Uruguay and says it's a good place to be. So is Argentina according to him. Both are relatively safe, cheap and fun. I ended up in Hungary where I was born, but hopefully within a year I'll be able to move again and this time it'll be either Uruguay or Argintina for sure. :)

I've heard you can get great deals on real estate in Agentina right now.
I had been considering doing photoshoots in Brazil but after eliminating it because of rampant crime and corruption I had a quick look at Buenos Aires. Nice in most aspects except not the greatest for locations and not so picturesque (at least compared to Rio). From what I can tell it's situated on a river mouth that's dirt brown and ugly all the time. Am I right or wrong? |
