AOL is fucking rediculas, I never heard about all of those popups that they gave before. The thing is that they already charge $23.95 per month, don't they ?? Whereas most local places can offer access for $18 around here, so they're taking in an extra $6 more than most other places, so why the fuck do they have to put up popups ???
If people are already paying an ultra high rate for their service, then they shouldn't have any popups to deal with. I could understand them having pops if they were selling their service for $10, but they're not. I just wish that the millions of users would one day wake up and see that there's MUCH better access out there than AOL. For all of the newbies out there that are on AOL, they don't need their fucking browswer, all that they need is a decent homepage that has links to shit like that. On another note, I FUCKING HATE AOL's 1000 free hour promotions, that's pretty nasty how they mislead people like that. If you read the fine print, it says "To be used in the first month", well, they should just say "first month free". I'm sure that misleads a bunch of people into thinking that 1000 hours would last them all yet. Then again, as with the adult business, it's all about reading the fine print, he he he. |

1000 Free hours in a month.. There aren't even 1000 hours in a month. Surely that's false advertising.. Is it maybe not 100?

I simply can't imagine anyone using a dialup modem right now. I had a cable modem 3 years ago, and now using dsl for almost 1 year.

AOL is a dying company.
People are leaving their service by the millions. They've bumbled their merger with Time Warner. They will die like the dinosaur they are.

I had DSL when I lived in the Bay Area... They didn't have Cable when I got DSL.... about a 1 1/2 later they had Cable. When I moved to Fresno.... No DSL were I live... but they have Cable.... And when I ask the Manager ( when looking at the Apt. ) she didn't even know what DSL or Cable Modem's were.. She does now... I was calling all these place's from Fresno to Sacramento... and 95% of the managers had no ideal what I was asking.. DSL or Cable.... Oh yes we have cable... Do you have Cable Modem... what's that.... My friend bought a home in Rocklin... Told me got Cable Modem... And that's what he was sold.... I checked his IP and it's Pacbell DSL.... He doesn't know nor does he give a flying fuck... all he knows it's alot faster than what he had in Dublin, CA... 56k dialup... I have another friend that lives in Manitica and until about 2 months ago all he could get was 28.6 on his dialup... Pacbell They didn't offer DSL nor Cable until 2 months ago. Most people have NO ideal... and are happy as hell to even be on the Internet... And if they have AOL...who's going to train them... Am telling you it will be a huge learning curve for most of them HUGE. I do some online Tech. support.... and it can be out of this world what people will do..... and then tell you NO I didn't do that... Sometimes am watching them run there computer, am dialed in to there computer and can see what they are typing in..... and they will still tell me NO I didn't do that.... I just say OK.... and tell'm what not to do and what to do very nicely..... belive it or not alot of time it's funny as hell....

Their salesman even have popup speals... If you don't like what they are talking about and say, "not interested", they'll popup with another speal and keep doing it til you're forced to just hang up on em..
AOL has always been advertisement based.. even before they linked to the net.. Doesn't matter what you pay them, they still smother you with bullshit ads from every tom, dick & harry who wants to advertise through them. |
