Overage on ServerMatrix, not happy with the service, can i get $ back?

I was charged $195 for server overage few days ago, but during the mont of my overage my server was up and down, and always pinging in critical condition

can i charge that back since the service/server couldnt even keep up barely?

any have experience with this?

i wouldn't try charging back, after all it was up long enough to use $195 in overages.

Can I ask what server you have? also with most SM boxes, you are responsible for the uptime, SM is responsible for the connectivity. Unless you buy their management package.

$195 in overages taking out a P4 (depending on the content) is now unbelievable. You could have load balanced two servers, doubled your output and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

well, i do pay a separate company for the server management..............i'd rather not chargeback, i just submitted a ticket for a refund or for partial refund

i lost a lot of traffic because of the unstableness of the server and it's downtime throughout the month tho

and yea i heard about the load balancing, sounds great, but i already purchased another server so i should be ok for now

thanks for your comments 3MTA3

a friend has 3 or 4 servers with them, he hasnt really had a problem, maybe a couple times been slow. overall their 1500 gig servers are good priced, if you were in early enough you could get one for 79$

but i would call them up on the phone, i always prefer real time when dealing with issues like that. explain everything

I have been charged up the bumhole with the "overage" usage .
We learnt our lesson from that pretty damn quick ...
You really have to watch that , go for a flat rate if you can .
Usually cost more but its worth it - but then again depends how much
bwidth you use . Hit me up Jscott

You would have to check your SLA to see what their policy on refunds or credits are.

If you really were having network connectivity issues since you mentioned bad pings, then they may issue you a credit, even if your server was underperforming due to management issues, there shouldnt have latency issues or bad ping times.

many times if apache is running slow or crashes pings won't respond or they will be very slow.

I personally still say that if you have a scripted site with $195 in SM overages that i'm suprised that server was up long enough to get to $195

I don't like SM, but i don't really dis-like them either. I've always had great uptimes and only been down for 2 reason. 1- schedualed maintenance and 2- apache crash.
