just a hint, the way you have that linked the php script you run that image through reloads the image using up the same amount of bandwidth each time the image is viewed also causing a strain on your server, just for your info

Not sure if you noticed but the script rewrites the picture to give credit to the site it came from.. sure i could have saved it and make it quicker but then im stealing/rewriting/hosting the pic.not sure if they would appreciate that..

Using this method i give credit to the owner while still leaving it up to them if they want to allow it being hotlinked..

But the tradeoff is that it took about 2 minutes to load initially, for me anyway. I'm on a cable modem that is generally speaking quite fast.

everything good takes time.. its actually a really large pic ( gfy downsizes it ) so it would prob take some time anyways , but as buddy pointed out its being download once by my server then rewritten then downloaded a second time so really its almost like downloading the pic 3 times.. i do understand its alot slower , but i think its alot more fair way of "hotlinking" someone.

Case in point: This version of your pic is cropped, is still quite large in size, AND is only 79 kb. And it doesn't look too bad...

And Smokey, really..... that bandwidth may be free to you, but I'm pretty sure that someone somewhere has to pay for it up the line. :D

I think your missing the point about giving credit to the person who's picture it is

Like i said i realise it would be much faster and easier , the point was that the only way to give credit is to manually download edit crop, re-put up and insert a link , whereas i just insert the pic url in my url dont download anything . its all done for me. AND the person gets credit everytime bandwidth is used. The only downside is its slow.. thats just because both his server is slow and my server is slow.. use the link structure of the original pic url and post a hotlinked pic in a new thread to see what i mean. ( its barely noticeable difference on a fast connection )

With your way if the site owner decides he no longer wants to allow us to hotlink the pic he may remove it and my link will lno longer work, whereas with your method he has no input , and gets no credit.. thats a bit unfair..
