Hmm, I think I will stop buying hammers. I sometimes feel the urge to do some bad things to people with them.

Something you could do for starters is leave the default "Original Article syndicated via RSS from SITE NAME" and leave SITE NAME linked to the original site.
I'm sure there's a way you could code that in and not let someone remove it without having to remove the feed altogether.
That's the "very least" you could do.

What if you have a primary site that syndicates from your other blogs. I don't want my main site having ANY outbound links. It would defeat the purpose.

So you think it's perfectly ok to plagiarize someone else's writing, change their sponsor links to your sponsor links, and not even give a link to the site you took the post from in the post itself or in the blogroll?

It's no different than stealing nasty dollar's content, cropping off the url from the images, and using the photos to promote your own paysite.

It's flat out stealing, and if you think it's ok then go fuck yourself.

Read better what I said. I have a mainstream project with 20 ABP sites. Each of these sites are owned by me, and have articles that I own and paid for. They all link to my main site acting as one way links, with the idea in mind of boosting my main site. My main site has 0 outbound links. What you are suggesting would make it impossible for me to do this.

I don't really care what's possible for you.
If you can't link to my site then don't use my feed.

Lenny, I understand what you're saying but letting people edit it makes it much harder to leave a "footprint" for se's to latch onto.

That's the whole point of ABP being dynamic, from relinking, rewriting, adspots, down to the sitefooter etc. the whole idea is to be able to change up anything very fast from one central location sitewide without having to edit templates, and possibly hundred of posts just to change an outbound link, or banner etc.

I should add there is always a link in the sidebar for any feeds you pull, that can't be edited unless they take the links code out of the template.

This has nothing to do with your site in particular. I have a huge network growing, mainstream, and i own all the content that is being pulled through. I don't wanna leave footprints for the SE's to grab.

Then maybe you could code something that we could use to protect our feed. Perhaps an allowed list for all the aggregators we ping and the common newsreaders that surfers use, and it would deny any other site trying to plagiarize us.

I understand that there are certain things you want to do from an SEO perspective, but you are using other people's content and that always comes with some limitations.

Be fair.
