Can you hide things in images?

When you create an image, can you hide something in it that would return results when you search for it. so you can see what domains have your picture on them.

Just curious.

I vaguely recall something about Suze Randall using some sort of spider algorithm that searched for her own original images after the Max Sheridan/Reactor infringement case.

But I don't know if that was simply a bluff...or a real capability.

Yes.
It's called steganography - and it's been around for literally hundreds of years.
Essentially, it's the science / art of concealing something in another.

Dating back hundreds of years ago with artists putting paintings inside, behind, and in paintings [...davinci code anyone] - modern implementations include hiding text within text and datafiles [IE, on fat 32, a cluster is 32kb. When you save a file smaller than 32kb, an entire cluster is taken, but the remainder is empty - and this can be used to store 'hidden' data], or the classic of storing something within an image.

For example-

Grab a copy of:
http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/steganote.htm

Download
http://ninjito.com/dump/qx-transit-3.bmp

Use the password 'gofuckyourself' - and preseto.

Data within data.

There are many implementations of similar software - files in images just happens to be the most impressive / dramatic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steganography might prove interesting.

You can embed copyright & other info with photoshop & pretty nuch any photo/image editor.

You can also change the file type to .txt & you'll see code & you can add a searchable string at the top in a comment tag then change it back to the original file type

Just re-read your question.

I'd suggest using EXIF data. Although it can be read / removed by most, I have a suspicion that search engines use this in their results (others can verify) - and languages like PHP have inbuilt support for reading / writing exif data.

It would be no stretch to code a script that automatically spidered google / yahoo images and auto read / checked EXIF data on matching images.

google can detect words written on pics if they are visible , it takes awhile for google to add your images but try this make a nice clean white pic and put a search term not found n google images in the pic then link to it with different words on a page frequently spidered by google , then wait , it will find the words. so using that , you should be able to add some text in the corner ( but it would have to be visible text ) on a porn pic and it should find it.. i suggest doing some tests with opacity on text or such on some demo blanks and see what google can see and what they cant , it might be possible to hide small words in random places so it wouldnt hinder the image and have google detect it
