SAD - My Dog Passed Away a Few Nights Ago (PIC)

Its been a rough week for me. I've been trying to work to keep my mind off things but there are times I can't help but think about her .. Indy.

Let me tell you a brief story about her. She was my best friends dog. I've known her since he got her 12 years ago. Indy traveled with Bruce all over the US and moved to San Diego with him about the same time I did. A few of you know Bruce aka The Madd Russian. Well, Bruce was killed by a drunk driver 3 1/2 years ago here in Phoenix. When he died, I adopted his dog. So there is more than a owner/pet relationship here. Indy was the last day to day living tie I had with Bruce. He was my business partner, best friend, room mate and pretty much my brother. I'm close with his family and his father now calls me his son.

For me this is very hard. I live alone. All I have are my 2 dogs. I've been single and living alone now for 4 years since my breakup with Nikki. When you live alone and work from your house, you are around your pets all the time and build that much of a deeper love and relationship. They know what I was thinking and feeling and I know them.

Well, I just wanted to get this out of me. I've cried plenty and just writing this makes my eyes swell up with tears. Losing your best friend is so hard and then losing one of your pets that had ties to your best friend .. well words can't really describe it.

Here is a picture of my baby girl. I miss her sooo much. I pick up her ashes on Monday.

sorry to hear that, i've got an elderly dog myself that can't walk anymore without a harness. i suppose it's about focusing on the good times spent with the dog. my dog was a stray and was about to be put down. i think the 10 years+ that we've spent together are all bonus days.

Its as emotional and painful as losing a child. Words can't really even describe the depth of feelings about the bonds we build with dogs.

They are truly better than any human friend. Loyal and faithful to the end. Always by your side on your sad days or when you're sick in bed. You never forget that excited look in their eyes when its time to go for a walk or play fetch. They'll protect you to their death if need be. Just amazing animals and buddies.

My best German Shepherd of all the ones I've had over the years passed away a year ago next week. So this will be a sad week for me too. I know the pain. I walked by his grave this morning and got all choked up thinking about him.

Prayers of comfort out to you Adam.

Same here, I kinda got choked up reading your thread cause I'm reminded of my childhood dog I grew up with. He was a massive dog, 150lbs or so and god did I love him.

I had to watch him wither away because of an intestinal cancer and the day I lost him was pretty hard on me.

Like you, I have a dog now that I inherited when a family member was killed in a motorcycle accident. She's a golden retriever and she is the most lovable creature there is in the world. She would do anything for me.

I'm a total dog freak, I love them so much.

Here's my girl :

She stinks, but goddamn is she lovable

Your post made my cry again. I never cry. I haven't cried in 4 years since Bruce died.

Your words are so true. My dogs are truly my best friends and family. They are always there for me no matter what. Even when I get mad at them for doing something wrong, they still come up to me with that "I'm Sorry" face and you can't stay mad at them. They never lie to you, they're never two faced, they ALWAYS have unconditional love.

What was your German Shepherds name?

Here is another pic of my girl.

She's so cute. I think you have a winner there My other dog is a yellow lab and he eats shit sometimes, so his breath isn't the best, but I still love his stinky ass.

I don't think the pain ever goes away.

Here is one more picture. This is of my 2 best friends. This was Bruce and Indy before Bruce passed 4 years ago. Man, we all had so much fun together. We each had a dog and made up a pretty nice family ... 2 best friends and their dogs. I miss those days.

HOW MUCH ATTENTION DO YOU FUCKING NEED? STOP POSTING THREADS ABOUT EVERYTHING AROUND YOU DYING

jesus christ. announcing to thousands of strangers that your friends are drug addicts dropping off like flies, was weird enough. all this shit has nothing to do with grieving... its nothing more than selfish, self serving plays for attention and sympathy.

no fucking doubt, all that does is kick someone when their down..

i'm sorry about your dog, i cried enough when i had to get rid of my dog after only having him for 2 months, let alone if he died... he was a good dog when i had him, i fell inlove with him the second i saw him at the humane society... i snatched him up and he got me mad a few times, but the last month i had him, he became a really good friend, everyone yelling his name, i just had to say it and he would come running to me, was a great dog, 100% pure siberian husky

i also had a few dogs die, one i remember is Lucky my dads dog, he was a rat terrier and a poodle cross, hell of a badass, got into a fight with some wild dogs and lost his teeth, my dads best friend, out of all the funerals we been to, i had never seen my dad cry, till the day we had to put Lucky down because he had internal bleeding, was over 18 years old..

then before i was born, we had a german shepard that was an old police dog, i guess he pulled my oldest sister out of a burning house, he was shot in a deer hunting accident...

I bet your girl is sitting with your friend, my mom went to a psychic or whatever those people are who talk to the dead, and talked to my mom, the first thing he said to her was Nipper (the shepard) was there when he died, so i believe you will always be with your best friends no matter what happens after death

I'm really sorry for your loss, Adam...
I have a dag and he's almost 16 y.o. I love him very much as he's my best friend (he appeared in our family when I was nine). I know that he's pretty old boy and one day he'll leave me and I afraid of this moment very much as it will be the worst day in my life. That's why I pray for him daily, that's why I understand you... and I know that no words will help here...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Here is one more picture. This is of my 2 best friends. This was Bruce and Indy before Bruce passed 4 years ago. Man, we all had so much fun together. We each had a dog and made up a pretty nice family ... 2 best friends and their dogs. I miss those days.

Miss Bruce.

Just reading the thread and seeing the pic makes my eyes swell up a bit. I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. It looks like you had a lot of great times though and those you'll never lose.

I just had to have my cat of 16 yrs put down last week, it was rough as hell. I wrote him a eulogy on my myspace blog and felt a bit better after getting it off my chest. Hope this thread helps you the same way.

That was the point of this. My family is all in another state. My business and the people I do business with are a main part of my life now. I haven't had a chance to talk and get it out of me and I don't have any blogs to write. Plus, since I know so many here, it felt like I was talking to friends and people that cared. This thread and hearing others stories has helped me feel a bit better.

So thanks to all you who came in here and posted their stories and opened their hearts. GFY is known as a tough place with a lot of tough talk. Its nice to see people drop the wall and share their heart felt emotions.

Sorry to hear that. I love my dog to death. He follows me everywhere I go, loves trips in the truck, and the moment I sit down to work, he sits right behind me until I'm ready to leave.

I remember when your friend died. KB had a very tough time accepting the death, too.

I have never had a dog, but one of these days I hope to have one of man's best friends in my home. I have had cats, and one I had for many years. She was very special, and I think about her all the time.

Keep busy, share your thoughts like you are doing now, and you will survive this loss.

Dig, do you still have your dog?
