They are truly better than any human friend. Loyal and faithful to the end. Always by your side on your sad days or when you're sick in bed. You never forget that excited look in their eyes when its time to go for a walk or play fetch. They'll protect you to their death if need be. Just amazing animals and buddies.
My best German Shepherd of all the ones I've had over the years passed away a year ago next week. So this will be a sad week for me too. I know the pain. I walked by his grave this morning and got all choked up thinking about him.

Your post made my cry again. I never cry. I haven't cried in 4 years since Bruce died.
Your words are so true. My dogs are truly my best friends and family. They are always there for me no matter what. Even when I get mad at them for doing something wrong, they still come up to me with that "I'm Sorry" face and you can't stay mad at them. They never lie to you, they're never two faced, they ALWAYS have unconditional love.
What was your German Shepherds name?
