If you believe in Jesus Christ you should

go and rent "LIFE OF BRIAN" movie by Monty Python - maybe you wake up then.

Have seen that again yesterday and its probably the best way how to say that all that jesus , bible , religion and churches comedy is just "BIGGEST LIE OF ALL TIMES"

I love Monty Python movies. Mel Brooks too... "History of the World", "Blazing Saddles", "Spaceballs"...

Right now Life Of Brian is on our weeking rotation of movies, along with the rest of the python movies. The Holy Grail is top of the pile for the morning. Best way I know to remind myself not to take the bullshit seriously. That and the Cheeck & Chong movies.

Jesus Christ is a fictional crutch that your brain uses as a defense mechanism to combat the inherent fear of death.

Are you trying to say Jesus of Nazareth never existed? Are you high?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus
There is not a single historian or reputable scholar on this earth that disputes Jesus existed.

Neither Dogma nor Life Of Brian are saying Jesus didn't exist. Dogma talks about being spiritual rather than a slave to one particular religion and Life Of Brian is just a joke about Brian who was said to be born on the same day and so was mistaken by many for Jesus. 'He's not the Messiah he's a very naughty boy'.

Personally, I lost my religion a while back but to say either are anti-the existence of Jesus is wrong.

So can you please detail the non-biblical (i.e. secular) accounts of the existance of Jesus.

Jesus existed, no doubt. He was a man with a family. A wife, children, brothers and sisters. He did good things and bad, Jesus...shat.

He lived a life and died a death to inspire others. Just like other spiritual leaders all around the world have done throughout history. It was greedy, power-hungry men who took his legacy and turned it into an orthodoxy that makes people into slaves for the church. These same men of power turned the religions against one another, declared each better than the rest and all not of their religion "savages, infidels, heretics or charlatans" and they've sat back and profited from the wars, pain, hunger, strife and infighting for two millenia.

Fuck them and fuck all the churches.

Exactly, even John Cleese said that LOB wasn't making fun of religion but rather how some people blindly followed religion. If you're going to get so offended by a movie like that than check out George Carlin talking about religion because he'll knock your socks off.

I personally have no doubt that Jesus existed, but I have a problem following a 2000 year old book that was written by other people. You know how when someone hears something and then tells one person who tells another person and so on. By the time it gets to the 10th person it is completely different than what was first said. How do we know the Bible is exactly what happened. Maybe it's just me I don't know, but I would rather have my own relationship with God than join a group of people every Sunday at 5 AM and listen to someone read out of the Bible and tell me how I should be living my life.

The earliest known accounts of Jesus were relayed by those who actually knew him. The most important elements we know about his life are accurate.
