overture is great if you have a ton of keywords, highly targeted and never over 7 cents
we spend $200 per day on overture and we are very happy...

I am sure you dont want to get a lot of traffic from overture.

If you try to be the first on the list fo some keywords, you will get hitbotted by other webmasters....and that will cost you a lot of cash...

the secret is to never be #1 on the return list
it is always good to be in the spot 2 to 5 or 38 to 40
and, never, never bid more than 7 cents or your money will be eaten by hit botter. overture is good at catching cheater but pretty tough at giving you your money back

so there are tons of keywords that are not bidded so you can be the first with 5$ per 100 clicks and i doubt that if you description be targeted that i cann't get 1 sign up with that se 100 clicks
about hitbots - yea it;s pain in the ass but i think there is some soft that can protect you frof this shit and most sites bid 20-40$ per 100 clicks i guess they have some profit if they bid so high even in 1 place - (by the way overture highly recomend you to be the first ) may be overture hitbot by itself in order to earn some money )

I was buying traffic from them for a couple weeks just recently. I dropped all my bids to $.05 when I uncovered some nasty stuff they're into.

I discovered the following by using Cashcount.

60% of Overtures traffic does not come from Overture. It comes from two sites

When you get the exact url from cashcount stats and go to these pages - they return an Overture results page - if a surfer clicks on your link - you get charged.

Then a timed page pops right over your page just like an Overture result page - but your URL is not on that page.

They have this arranged so covertly that it will only happen once a day. I guess they burn a cookie on you so you can't replicate this again until the next day.

This happens to every surfer the first time they come thru these pages - it's a total ripoff - I've documented this and sent it to Overture thru their dtc - no response and it is still going on - but only on adult traffic.

When you check the whois on these sites the info is very covert. I wouldn't be surprised if they own these sites.

You are better off using Google's Ad-Words. I have been using them for a few weeks now with pretty decent results. They are supposed to have cheater protection in place. I am first in a variety of keywords and I haven't noticed any hitbotting.

Goto was the shit a few years ago.

Today's Overture isn't as great.

They have bizarre ever-changing relevancy rules, now they have strange rules about which words you can and can't bid on (based on content and also on number of searches per month), they make you pay .05 per click minimum, some of the traffic is crap, etc.

We still use them somewhat, but not 1/10 as much as we did a few years ago. We get a lot less value for our money with Overture today than we did in the past.

I found overture to be unworthy of their good reputation. In retrospect, and knowing what I know now, I could make better use of their traffic, but I reccommend Overture only for experienced webmasters with lots of knowledge, and enough balls to fight with a big company when shit hits the fan.
